I can’t take him but if he needs to come through WNY I’m always up to help transport.

Is it possible to get a subscribe button for the sub forum?

—-Copy/paste from my own post in GD thread.—-

For those on the fence….a phone call to the foster is free. Maybe Reed is the right dog for you, maybe not. There’s no commitment necessary to engage in a pleasant conversation.

I have been in a similar position myself a number of times, wondering if I’m ready for a new companion. It’s a difficult decision but I’ve found that simply talking with the rescue allows me to reconcile my doubts and gain clarity with respect to the possibilities.

(Original Post)

Bump TTT …

But I am a bit surprised that he hasn’t been claimed.

Reed is quite literally the PERFECT , DO IT ALL DOG in one package.

Young and trainable to your lifestyle? Check.

Want a mellow companion? He’s a Lab.

Want an alert guardian? He’s a Shepard.

Concerned about breed specific health? Mix eliminates most issues.

Vetted for compatibility with kids/animals? Done.

Reed is a blank canvas ready for you to paint your vision of the perfect canine companion.

Unless you REQUIRE a very specific dog for a working task to the exclusion of all others, Reed checks all the boxes and then some.

Finally, how cool would it be to become the guardian/ caretaker of the FIRST graduate of the legacy SFDR.
There will only be one Mark-1 Mod 0 and Reed is it.
A limited edition of one, if you will.

I will personally have a custom collar made, (with the requisite flair denoting his exclusive pedigree) ,and delivered to the new owner.

That my friends,(adopting Reed and posting pics) is how you properly flex on the rest of GD dog owners, myself included.

thinking about it.  I just moved and place not set up.  and some money issues. but Im close to where he is somewhat.

also not home for 9-12 hours at a time currently. but probably put a kennel run outside or something.  neighbors have a sheppard outside, and landlord has invisible fence for their dogs.

This is Mrs. Pelican34, after much consideration and discussion with ImperfectlyPerfect3, we claim Mr. Reed.  We are honored to have the opportunity to participate in the tradition of Semper Fi Dog Rescue. We feel Mr. Reed is the perfect fit for our family and we cannot wait to actually meet him.  HUGE thank you for all involved including the bumps.  We will share Reed action photos when he arrives.

That is WONDERFUL news.
This day just keeps getting better and better.

Earlier in the process I offered to have a proper memorial collar custom made to celebrate his rarified status as the FIRST, but certainly not the last dog to graduate from the legacy SFDR.

I hope you take me up on the offer even if  just to hang above his food dish.

Duke,
I am sure Reed will be honored to wear the collar that you have made. I know my family will be.

Thank you.
Couple of things….

1.Pelican34, if you prefer please put him in a traditional collar for everyday use, I want to make sure he’s secure. There’s only a couple types of collars that I trust particularly if we’re out in woods. If he’s anything like a younger version of my rescue lab, there’s no telling what he’ll get into. My old guy has mellowed but was a madman ( in the best possible way) when he was a puppy.
Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face.

It could be for special occasions, or when Reed is feeling particularly fancy. Sure to impress the neighborhood bitches( yes, I’m referring to female dogs before anybody yells at me).

A canine issue of dress blues, if you will.

@Kitties-with-Sigs

2. I have never been accused of being overly artistic  so any suggestions from you creative types out there would be most appreciated.

PRO TIP: Might make for an interesting topic/post in General Discussion (soliciting ideas for the design) to call attention to SFDR and Joker’s new sub forum.
A fun contest of sorts that just happens to have your fund raising link attached.
Visibility is a key component to any successful enterprise.
Cast a wide net, keep your audience engaged and good things happen.
Should someone be so inclined.😉

Let me know what you think might be a proper tribute to the newly risen SFDR and befitting the occasion. I’ll take it from there.

Should you elect to open it up to GD input ,may I suggest some version of the following format:

Time the post for peak traffic hours to ensure maximum engagement.
Include a pic of Reed for inspiration.

“GD MS Paint Opportunity!!! SFDR”
(an MS Paint thread is irresistible in GD)

“Calling all GD artists.
Here is your chance to help design a memorial collar/plaque  for the first graduate of the NEW /LEGACY SFDR.”

Acceptable forms of submission:

1.MS Paint

2.Poorly drawn sketches

3. Drunken doodles that have  nothing to do with the subject matter.

4. Clearly plagiarized images that you shamelessly take credit for.

Make it fun and you will likely get some traffic pushed to the cause

Duke

This collar is your brainchild!  Why don't you go ahead and post it?

Some of the designs might be applicable to a new icon for site members who help or play a role in SFDR!

Ain't sayin we will get one of those, but I have dropped a hint.

I guess a bump or two from the usual suspects couldn’t hurt but GD moves pretty fast so not unexpected.
