Had to look at it, comments might be NSFW though.

Had the volume down. Was that an advertisement for 3M electrical tape?

What was your replay count? Mine was about 4-5 just to be sure. |

Piece of history right there. I never knew Rap was that old. At least the guy carried the tune a little bit.

Took an old song and added that famous Sly and the Family Stone drum sample which comes from one side of the stereo field, 2 beats looped.. used by MANY rap producers, famously in the "Humpty Hump" song

I'd bet if he knew how many lives rap/hip hop would ruin he never would have recorded that.

As with most attempts to develop a taxonomy of evolved systems, it's often hard to pin down precise delineations, but it's critical to start with trying to define your terms. From my perch, it's not hip-hop, but it is more "flow," than "singing." Of course, there was plenty of that in music before modern "rap." Edit: if that kind of "flow" is singing, and thus not "rap," than that would mean "Rapper's Delight" is not "rap." That's a tough sell for me. |

For those that missed it..
It was short lived but oh so interesting.. A definite can’t not watch moment. Think of an attractive woman wearing a bdsm type outfit made of electrical tape. Now imagine she is strutting around with enough energy to cause some harmonious vibrations. |

View Quote Watch/listen to the actual video, not the modified one OP posted. It's singing. Rapper's Delight doesn't even close to the tonal changes. |

I’m not sure if I would call that rap.
It’s that “not quite singing, not quite talking” popularized by Johnny Cash. That had been known as “talkin’ blues” for decades before that. |
