Anyone else have this issue/able to solve it?

The thing only wants to play some movies that I put on it. All the movie files and good and play fine everywhere else.

When it fails to play a given video, do you get any error message?

I had to download VLC media player for my Kid's fire to play some videos.  The built-in video player was picky.  You can get it free in the Amazon app store(or whatever it's called)
