The GWOT and pre-GWOT days of answering "no" on medical are over. MEPS and the various branches are using a program called Genesis. This is a federated system which accesses civilian medical records. Fraudulent enlistments will be sniffed out.
If your recruiter, or your kid's recruiter, is saying to just answer no so they don't have to deal w/ waivers, tell him to his face he's a piece of shit and screwing with your/your kid's future. If a waiver cannot be granted, there's likely a good reason. Otherwise, just wait for the damn waiver.
Here's an example I found of what happens when Genesis catches a fraudulent enlistment (unfortunately it was caught after MEPS):
WARNING Genesis is run at boot camp and will find you if you lied about anything
It happened to me. Granted I was Army, but I doubt that the scenarios can be that much different across the branches. So I lied about ADHD and counseling. Thats it. I passed reception at fort sill no biggie in february but in week 2 or 3, I was pulled aside and taken out of training. They told me that they knew I was hiding something and found out about the ADHD. A couple weeks in like a pseudo-prison and I'm back home looking like an idiot in front of my family. I said nothing to anyone and did nothing to make people think that i had adhd. I was never on tricare as a kid, and I even opted out of the HIEs, yet they still found me. In basic when i was there, I worked hard and while far from the best I was absolutely not a shitbag. So honestly it wasn't like they were trying to get rid of me from the start. Ive asked several different people over text who are still at basic, and they told me that other people got separated too, so I am NOT the only one. So honestly, do with this information what you will but they ARE running genesis medical checks on EVERYONE at boot camp. I'm pretty certain as more and more people start to get kicked out there will be more or more posts like this.
Honestly this serves as a warning and it fucking sucks. Luckily unless you lied about bipolar or some serious shit like elipsy, or unless you are like a nazi, you will most likely be given an RE3 general discharge. I can try again in 2 years, tho it will make my life much harder trying to get back in.
To those who say "my recruiter said this or my recruiter said that" your recruiters are LYING. I actually paid my recruiter a visit and he pretty much said, "thats tough but its your own fault", after repeatedly assuring me throughout the couple of months of waiting i did to ship out. Your recruiters are LYING to you. Once you get on that plane, they do NOT give a fuck about you and will gladly throw you under the bus.
If I were any of you who have lied about something, i would drop out of DEP and come back in 6 months and try again, most likely with a different office. Fradulant Enlistment isnt the end of the world, but it fucking sucks. I do not mean to be a gatekeeping prick, but as unfair as they might seem to you, standards are there for a reason. Dont try to lie and think that "rules" dont apply to me. I thought the same way and look at me now lol Do with my story and information what you will, but know that they WILL catch you View Quote https://old.reddit.com/r/army/comments/z0oynf/does_this_old_post_from_reddit_seem_fake/
