I’m going to be disappointed if I don’t see more old school Sig, Beretta or Glock ads.
Also that S&W ad calling out Ruger is savage. |
|
In.
The S&W burger ad is new to me, hilarious that they put Ruger grips on a piece of meat. |
|
I used to read Guns & Ammo at breakfast thru the 80’s so am looming forward to this as brings back some good memories!
My absolute favorite was the Marlin 39A squirrel recipe ad, I hope it comes up. |
|
Very cool.
You are going to get sick of doing this every day though. |
|
well look who’s back....glad to see you posting the nostalgia stuff. you didnt miss anything around here.
that hk 94 with those long barrels crack me up. reminds me of the semi auto uzi. just begging to be cut back. |

Most certainly N on Page 1 ....
Like an idiot, I tossed my issues of G&A, Shooting Times, Guns...etc I felt like I grew up with and learned much from the old-school guys Like Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton, Bill Jordan, P.O. Ackley, Dave Metcalf and many others. ETA - Dick Metcalf, not Dave. |

I think this is a great idea for a thread!
I am subscribed, and looking forward to this! Glad to see you posting more frequently again. |

View Quote I remember an article where a ruger and a smith cylinder were tested to destruction and failed at pretty much the same pressures...which I found very interesting since I had thought the ruger would be much stronger! Thanks for the cool new thread JBT! |

I just got done relocating my dad after the death of my mom.
Boxes of old school national rifleman, going back to the 60s :( |
|
I remember looking at the HK in a small store in Dolamite al, guy name Frank Camper ran it. I was a year or two out of the army, new job and could not afford it.

I love those vintage HK ads.
First thing I saw when I opened the thread was the Will County Sheriff's Dept. patch - that's where I used to prosecute and practice law. |

Thanks for the cool new thread JBT! I love it when one company calls out another company in an ad. That kind of swagger and confidence in your product is seriously lacking by a lot of companies now days. |

$766 was a lot of money in the 80's when that H&K ad was running; all of the modern military style semi-automatics were expensive but the H&Ks were especially expensive. Cheap AR-15s would come later.
I remember that S&W ad and thought it was hilarious at the time. Although revolvers have since become unfashionable, people still claim that Rugers are stronger. |

The last one looked like the prequel to the classic Elian Gonzales photo of him being taken back by the .gov to be shipped back to Cuba

Sweet!! So far I remember seeing all of them back in the day......wait, uhhh,

Although that burger looks pretty tasty. Just have to remove the revolver grips first. (Although I’m sure I ingested plenty of powder residue and gun oil while I was in the Army.) What a great idea for a thread - thanks Miami! |

Seems like yesterday I was drooling over those HK ads. That was a lot of money back then considering my Mustang 5.0 payment was $215 a month.

IIRC, my grandpa convinced my grandma to make one of the recipes. Could have been venison. |

Neat!
These are cool but when they show the prices, it makes me want to cry. |

I have one of those glock posters. I think there was 3 different versions ...each with different patches.
I made an account on glock talk for the sole purposes of selling it, but seems no one wanted it. |
