Just getting a feel for how bad these fine pieces of equipment really are.....

If so, post up age, model, and failure type IE battery drain, delam, loss of purge, etc....

The battery compartment had something wrong with it.  Eotech sent me a widget that fixed it.  Still returned it for the refund.  Have an aimpoint now.

I had a few old logos break in various ways.

My new logo exps3 has survived on my SCAR 17 so far, which is something to be noted.

Had mine for a decade. Never any issues. But when they were offering full retail for them a few years back I took the offer just in case.

I had one lose the gas seal.  Both of mine had obvious zero shift from -20f to 75f.

ETA: they fixed the gas seal and then shortly after gave me refunds on both.  I have several UH1 now and love them.

ETA2:  as the guy said below me, I guess it’s called loss of purge. That’s what I had.

Have Gen 1, model 512. Had the battery box issue and I suppose loss of purge. L3 fixed me up so I voted: fixed.

Disclosure: used to work for them

Nope, worked just fine for all the time I used it.

Just got a XPS2 a couple months ago.  I have an astigmatism and the circle/dot appears more pixelated than my Aimpoint PRO.  Haven't shot with it enough to really decide if I it like it better or not.

Only minor shift on one.

That said I only have Vortex Uh1s now.

Had an issue with a xps where I couldn't see the dot at certain angles. The sight is I believe a 2012 model and it failed around 2014. Sent an email to Eotech and they sent me a label and told me to ship it back. They fixed it in a short time and sent it back.  It seems to work ok but I have not done anything hard use with it since I received it back.

No but I still returned it because the battery life was utter shit.

I had an early xps2 with loss of purge, I can’t recall the year. I sent it in and got half off an exps3-4 and magnifier. I figured the half off was for an equal replacement, but it pretty much was half off all the optics on their site, they are listed at MSRP. It still turned out to be a good deal.

I bought my Eotech 517 ten years ago.
It has never failed and is still working great today - I like it a lot!

EXPS 3-0

Zero shifted by 4+ MOA almost every other range trip.

When they announced the issues SOCOM was having with them and the buyback I sent it in.

I wouldn't mind giving them a chance again.

I had one(old school N battery)  that ate batteries like a fat kid in a candy store, lost its purge, went dead and I paid edtech out of warranty to fix it.

When they had the buyback I gladly sent it to them.  When it worked it kicked ass and was fast and precise.

Yep, new batteries don’t last a day.  Still have the piece of shit and the best they will do is offer me a new one at 50% off.

Had a few EXPS-3s. Traded them in during the rebate.

Missed them and bought them back. Never had a problem with any of them.

Never have purchased one because there has been too many failures I read about here years ago. Always gone Aimpoint or AGOG and have never been disappointed.

Ive got two xp3-2's
One old logo, one new.
I use these rifles frequently and have had zero issues with them.
Training on indoor ranges once a week for YEARS with my dept, as well as shooting outside once a month in serious cold I have yet to notice either of them shift.

Great optics!

8 or 9 years old 512 (I think).  Slight delamination all the way around- maybe just a millimeter or two.  Reticle still good.  Battery compartment fine.

I had 4 of 6 lose their purge on me.  All pre-2015.  Strangely enough, one of the ones that didn’t lose its purge was an old beat to shit 553 from the Lawguns/DRMO debacle (the other was an EXPS-3).  The ones that did were an old 512, an XPS-2, an EXPS-2, and a commercial 553.

Never again.

No.

However, I, like most of GD, do not actually shoot all that often.

My early ones had battery drain issues. I have a new logo EXPS-3 that’s been great so far.

Original 512 bought new many years ago, on coyote duty by the back door.  Never suffered the battery drain issues.  I use lithium AA's and have never had an issue.

One old logo and 2 new logo. All with thousands of rounds, many under full auto. No issues.

Original one (552) never failed but got dim, not useable in daytime. Got about 15 yrs out of it so feel I got my money's worth. Replaced with one of the 123a models, forget the model number.

ACOGs and Aimpoints are great, but all the tier one spec ops units use EOTechs.  They have a damn good reticle.  I use one for home defense because it's the best option for CQB.  If it wears out that's ok.  A lot of things wear out.

EXPS3-0, the outer circle started disappearing at 3 and 6, regardless of brightness.

ETA: after about a year of light use.

XPS-300 dual dot on my DD M4PDW.
Nothing bad, but then again with the ammo situation now, shooting .300BLK for jollies is insanity.
So I don't use it much.
The only negative that I see is that I can't have a preset brightness when I turn it on like it is on my MRO.
I ALWAYS have to mess with it to get the right brightness. I hate that.

Dunno, never owned one, never will. Can't trust them with the thermal drift issues.

Exactly the same here. It was an old 552. It was cool when it worked but the battery life sucked and the zero was always shifting.

I have a 511 ( I think. n cell one). Probably bought  in 07 or 08. It is a battery vampire. It lives on one of my range toys now, and I take the batteries out at the end of each trip and store them in the grip.

I had a 512 that I returned for a refund when they had the recall on them some years back.  I didn't have any problems with it, but I figured I would err on the side of caution and take the refund.

I have a newer model now (I forget which model number) that rides on my M-4 and it has been fine - no problems whatsoever.

Way back in the day I had a 511 fail.

It's really cool that you guys still support eotech after they admitted they fucked up.  How generous of you.  You guys are heroes.

My EXPS 3-0 is still kicking. However, I prefer my T-2 on a Scalarworks in 1.57". It is so choice.

512 AA version.  Three of them.  All had trouble staying zeroed.  Before the buyback, L3 simply told me “user error” and I had to zero every shooting session, if I wanted to hit something.

As soon as they announced their failure, I got my money back.  My Aimpoints never needed rezero unless I changed the load.

I like the circle-dot set up, but shitty customer service means no more L3 for me.

You left out the part where they lied and covered up the issues/faked durability testing for like a decade before they admitted they were wrong.

But, ya know, they look really cool in the badass magazine adverts, so they must be the best, right?

I had one 552 and three 512's.  Problem was zero drifting with temp changes.  I received full refunds for all four.  Lucky I kept my receipts.

At first I thought the zero problem was me, or the base, and just could not keep them dialed in.  Drove me nuts.  Then I found that others were having the same problem.  I was NOT a happy camper after spending $400+ on each of these.

With the refunds I bought six Holosun HS515C's.  Similar circle-dot reticle (I really like the circle-dot), but the Holosun's circle-dot is MUCH clearer, sharper.  The 515C has the quick detach base, solar panel for auto adjusting brighness, kill-flash hex grid up front, and lens caps.  I've been very happy with them.  And they hold zero.  Also, they use the common CR2032 lithium coin batteries, and GREAT battery life.

Later I bought two HS503FL's, bought the 515C type quick-detach risers for them from Holosun.  I more recently bought two Holosun HS503GU's.

No malfunctions from the Holosuns.

This. If it's -20, I'm not going to the range. Then again, I'm in Texas. It doesn't get that cold here.
