There’s a frickin’ dollar bill inside. I only opened it to see if there was any signs of devious intent by Big Media. Thanks for the dollar. I will enjoy the Diet Mt Dew.

Remove the dollar bill, then throw it away.

They say they’ll give you $10 for filling out their online survey, but that’s your call. I wonder how much this campaign is costing them.

They do actually pay you.

I think in three parts it was over $20 for my wife and I.

We enjoyed doing it as it was a way to show them (and advertisers) that we won't watch most of the stupid garbage they are putting on TV

We were part of the Nielsen ratings back in the ‘90’s. They came into our apartment and hardwired a device into every TV and VCR we owned (two of each). Every night at 3AM it used our phone line to download a list of everything we watched (including VCR tapes) to their servers.

They paid us $3/month per device, but for some reason paid us double so we got $24/month for about 2 years until we moved.

ETA: Last year I installed a phone system for a Nielsen call center in Dallas. They do a lot of cold calling as well.

we were a nielsen family in the 90s too. had boxes wired to the tvs and vcrs. punched in your number on a little remote when you were watching whatever.

was kinda neat.

The girlfriend did arbritron back in 2006. We had to wear a beeper like device and it monitored everything we watched or listened to.
She had become handicapped and said it was her way of contributing.
They us each $15 a month and sometimes an extra 50 dollars bonus.
After 2 years I used the money to get her a 32 inch flat screen TV.
It was easy and made her feel good so it was worth it.

As a kid in the '90's, I remember opening junk mail and there being dollar bills in some of it....must have been these guys.

It's the reason to this day that I still open junk mail and check before tossing it in the garbage.
