Do you currently have more than $2mil in retirement saving/investing vehicles?
This does not include pensions or rental income. |

I look at as I have nothing the government would want to take.

I was set to retire at 55, but the economy is going to crash hard soon with all the money printing going on so who knows.

$2M? No but I will...still young and chunking it away each month like a good boy so the gov can find a way to redistribute it

I'll be alright if I make it there, but I doubt I live that long

Average is shit Median is what the cool kids use Are you saying 2 mil is the median? If so, please site a source. Also the question is ridiculous. A 30 year old who is doing a great job saving is still not going to be close to sniffing 2 million 99% of the time. |

Hard to tell anymore. Not long ago, I was thinking 87 was a good target retirement age, but now I'm not so sure.

If $2M is the bar, I have a mere pittance stashed away in my 401K for retirement. And what I have will probably dwindle to nothing in the relatively near future. I'll die working.
I suppose it's my fault for not running for Congress. |

2 million? Lol! Not at my age. But I'm looking at retiring, and work being optional, in 6 more years. I'll be 48.

In 10 years, $2 million will be worth $250,000. Best hedge against inflation is to keep working.

If you’ve got more than a few thousand squirreled away AOC is gonna want to means-test you for SS

2 million?
The average 50 year old doesn't even have a half million. |
|
How much you need really depends on where you are. Money goes a lot farther in rural Georgia than it does in San Francisco.
|
|
Two million?
No. But I had enough to retire eight years ago at age 56, and I have been happy ever since! |
|
If you're 65+, married, living in a high tax high cost blue state and don't have 2 mil then you might be fooked down the road.

Lazy millennial, shoulda pulled on them boot straps harder. Retirement, that's cute. The last century saw 2 world wars that wrecked most peoples savings. The era the boomers have lived in is an abberration that is likely to end sooner rather than later. |

In all honesty, I've always figured I'd go out with a heart attack or via #3 buck before I was anywhere near able to retire.
|
|
Lol, I'm 34, only been working a good job for 5yrs, and my wife makes essentially nothing, so hard no. I'm trying to invest into my 401 and Roth, but that 15% hurts.
Not really planning on retiring anyway. I doubt it will be there via some government takeover. |
|
High 5 figure salary in my early 30s, expenses <$24k, and investments get most of the remainder. In spite of my poverty, I will endeavor to persevere.
|
|
I make sure to max out my Social Security contributions every year and I plan to vote blue from here on out. I should be ok.

Ceaseless labor for the Party is the source of material and spiritual goods, is what we were always taught. No, I do not expect to retire.

|
|
I dont even bother checking my 401k as I dont have enough years in yet

-Nashville Pussy, "Here's to Your Destruction" I have zero savings, but I won't 60 anyeay, so I'm not worried about. |

Have a decent retirement fund. Also have a degenerative lung disease so I won’t ever see retirement age. My kids will get to enjoy it.
