Well?

My PSV-14 costs more than most of my guns, and that's obviously the cheap entry level tier for NV.
Not sure if that's exactly what you mean by "optic" - but it does have glass and shit, and you look through it. |

Wasn't there an epic thread along these lines (ref. using Chinese made optics) not too long ago????
|
|
On my ranch rifle, the optic cost a bit more. But it wasn't a real expensive rifle. Sure shoots like one, though.

Gun prices have recently increased 2x-3x. Have optics prices also made this jump?

Poll Fail: Left out sometimes!
Couldn't vote some do some don't... |

In some cases yes. In some cases no. How the hell can this be an absolute unless you only have maybe two optics on guns
|
|
I don't think any of my rifles have glass that is more expensive than the rifle it's on.

I have a 4-27x Vortez razor gen 2 on a $400 Savage 10FP so yeah?
|
|
If you include the binocs, spotting scope and LRF then always. Just considering the gun mounted optic, only a few. Optics usually cost about what the rifle barrels do, or a little more.
|
|
I don't believe any of my guns have optics that were more expensive. One of my short AR pistols from PSA with an Aimpoint PRO might come close.

No, my red dot sight didn't even cost a 1/4th of the price of my AR.

My Elcan costs more than the rifle it sits on, and more than most of my rifles. I also have $200 optics.

The current price to replace my 3 Leupold LRTs exceeds what I paid, so if this standard is applied, then yes times 3. If not than no times 3.

I thought the general rule was spend twice as much on the optic as the gun anyway? It should be the *norm*? I’ve also got a Vortex PST 2.5-10x on a Savage .22LR.

No, but I don't use magnified optics and I don't count my pvs14.

|
In 1/06, my TRG-42 was $2650 and the SB PM II that I put on it was $2650.

Soory, I only paid $450 plus tax for my Aimpoint PRO.
Cost me about $1200 to put my rifle together. Didn't go all out on the parts, but did pay some coin for some. |

View Quote That's a silly rule that absolutely does not apply in most situations. Your Colt 6920 does not need a 1500 dollar scope on it. |
