Do you honestly believe Shit will hit the fan(for any reason)... and you will have to “live off the grid” at some point in your life...?

Like there will be some sort of major catastrophe... that all that separates you and your family from... “whatever” will be your guns... ammo... supplies... ability to get away from people?

With all that being asked... I have non-perishable food, water, ammo, gear... that If something happens I’d be able to protect the people closest to me... I feel crazy for even saying it...

But I’m a few bourbons into my night...

Oh hell yes.  We just witnessed what can happen when people freak out when there is no reason.  Can you then imagine what would happen if something does happen?

If you fail to prepare, then you are preparing to fail.

I seriously doubt we're in for a Mad Max scenario bit I'm certain we're in for some difficult times.

In support of that I have sufficient arms, ammunition, food, and water stored to survive a long time without trips to the grocery store.

The president seems intent on crashing the economy.

I'm ok with that as I have somewhere North of a five year supply of toilet paper.  I do need to buy another 9,000 paper towels.  Counting what I already stock that will bring me to 7 years at 6 towels per day.

I think applies l supplies will keep you steady during the incoming darkness, but don't know if off the grid living will be needed. It's within the realm of possibility.

Anything can happen. Don’t believe it will. I do not prep.

Thought it was crazy my grandma and my aunt/her husband was a navy seal, bought 2 blue giant barrels for water and I’m sure other stuff. Because North Korea hates trump and is going to nuke the us.
Also their the kind of people looking for every sign that gods coming back.

Probably not, but anything is possible.

The way things are going, I actually expect things will end up worse than that in their own way.

Everything these days is a let down

Our leaders, our culture, our religions. Nothing quite lives up to the past, though that all could be mythologized beyond recognition too.

I suspect a gradual descent down the bowl is more likely
than some truly wild events

The SHTF many times throughout history. Our country and current era is not special and immune to such events. I'm not saying it will happen, busy that it is a logical conclusion based on various societal issues.

And that’s what I’m thinking... it has happened many times through history... but just because it hasn’t happened in “recent” times doesn’t mean it can’t... and I’m not just talking about FJB events... I’m talking about anything in general. I just think people today are so comfortable with their everyday lives that “if” something happens they’d be fucked.

To my surprise, many Americans have developed an unbelievable tolerance for tyranny. It seems the stomach to take action, or affect change, is either worried about the repercussions or busy. It also seems that freedom doesn't mean the same to them as it does to some of us. Therefore much more suffering, decline and death will occur until the willingness of our fellow Americans causes them to take action against such evil.

Until then, more Patriots will get persecuted but hey, whats new? Everybody seems to have wanted to try something different. Pretty sure everyone will miss Trump come 2024, if we make it till then!

It's eventually going to happen, again.

I'd rather this thing kick off right now while I'm still around then have my son deal with it when I'm gone.

I'm so sick of the shit going on in this clown world.

It's inevitable. The question is, will it happen in my lifetime? Within 50 years? In a hundred years?

It always pays to be prepared.

YMMV, so you do you.

Mad Max-The Book of Eli kinda SHTF? No. Not unless some major event happens — asteroid or medium scale nuclear attack.

But I can see Great Depression era hurt. With a healthy sprinkle of “civil unrest” because their EBT card hasn’t been reloaded in weeks and antifa using it as a reason to do even more antifa shit.

I see the fall of Rome looming.  It won't be as spectacular, just a slow decline.  If left unchecked, we will decline in a socialist state and look much like Venezuela.  If there's enough resistance, I see some semblance of a Balkanization of America, but it will be odd pockets and back to feudal wars.  China will be buying crapping American products made with slave labor...and both Mexico and Canada will build walls to keep Americans out

I’ve already spent days to weeks needing to be self sustaining and without contact. Hurricanes, floods, blizzards, etc. already done those plus a few ‘nadoes, a super storm, etc.

It’s not a matter of if, but when. At least on the personal/regional scale

I’ve been fortunate to have lived in pretty good times (so far...) but I’ve also had the privilege of hearing first hand accounts of difficult times from grandparents, veterans and foreigners who have escaped tyranny in other parts of the world. The human condition is misery in general and Americans are among the most insulated and coddled people in history.

My mom’s parents, for example, were married in 1936 and were tough, resilient and very hard working folks. The Great Depression still kicked their butts and they struggled to have the minimum necessities. Compared them to Americans today, who have almost none of their grit, how will deprivations affect our society? Catastrophically.

Having at least a reasonable plan and supplies to manage through tough times that will absolutely come again is just common sense. Not Mad Max type stuff but hunger and shortages are what I prepare for.

Not likely anytime soon. There would need to be a widespread decline of a significant portion of our population's quality of life to kick it off.

No. But I have been through a house fire, a flood, an ice storm that knocked out power for 2 weeks, a derecho that knocked out power for a week, my wife’s business was closed due this stupid fucking pandemic,  and my work truck is in the shop this week because I took a round through the windshield while working in the rich and vibrant community.....so define “shtf” a few different ways and I’ll show you that the zombie/shtf/prepper stuff helps be ready for shit that doesn’t count as “shtf”.

None of what I have experienced has been more than a major or minor inconvenience, but having things like a generator, water pumps, tarps, a secondary and tertiary heat source, cash, food, etc sure made life a lot easier.

I don't think that there will be a widespread, off the grid event. But it wouldn't shock me if there was some at least semi-open urban warfare.

The inability to control federal spending relative to income has us on the path to Venezuela.  At least a greater than nominal chance of it anyway.

Think about even a few million people unable to by food, and tens of millions unable to buy other basics, due to serious inflation in the context of the George Floyd riots.  If we reach the monetary tipping point and a crisis starts it might not be Mad Max, but it won't be good.

I can see a depression greater than 1929 occurring, couple that with there being a whole lot less people who can provide for themselves on small farms as they had back then.

Short of all out war, asteroid hit or Yellowstone going off, probably not.

Look at what the current pandemic and it’s 1% fatality rate has unveiled: a nation of sheep blindly taking orders from the media and an overpaid mouthpiece (Fauxi) whom hasn’t treated a patient in decades. Neighbors and family snitching on one another to the stasi FBI.

Imagine a pandemic with a much higher death rate, a war, or widespread natural disaster. It won’t take much.

Yes at some point war is coming.  Not sure about complete breakdown of society or if in my lifetime but violence and mayhem are hardwired into our dna.  It is only a matter of time, we cant help ourselves.  Ego and rationalization are the bane of man.
