Local distribution plant will home deliver fuel. Their is a fee tho.

How my parents fill up the diesel fuel tank for the farm like 1-2 times a year.

I get my propane and diesel from the same place.  When Ukraine kicked off I saw the writing on the wall and had both tanks filled while it was "cheap".  Boy am I glad I did.  Have a few months worth of diesel and a years worth of propane.  Hopefully enough to get through the crazy, but not holding my breath.

Yea, what swamp said. Maybe bulk supplier would be more proper term, idk. The place where farmers and truckers call for bulk delivery. And they are right next door to my business, so local!

I originally was going to just get some barrels off craigslist and fill them, but they were going for $35-45 each (used and who knows what was in them) and hour plus of driving for pick up. Called this fuel supplier next door and he said yea, I have new barrels for $75 each. I said cool, can you fill them also? He said sure, $5.10 for on road and $4.40 for dyed, limit you can legally haul is 2 at a time. Each 55 drum equates to about 2300 miles in my TDI Passat.

Quoted:

How do you move the heavy drums?  Does the fuel store deliver the fuel to your storage?
I have a truck to haul and a tractor with FEL at home. Full drums should be 435lbs. I have a shed about a 100 yards from my house for storage. A 3 sided open shed would be better, but I'm not as concerned with diesel versus gas. I wanted to do this for the last year, but never got around too it, and now it's going to cost me twice as much. Always wanted a couple drums of on-road, an off road for the tractor, and a gas drum for generator. But with prices still going up, and possible shortages better still to do it.

Family owns a chicken farm. Each house has a 1k propane tank and they have 7 houses. A very cold winter they will just about consume 1 tank per flock which is like 6-8 weeks. That is pretty rare tho.

I used to do that if I wanted fuel off the books. Of course with the ELD, once the truck rolls the ELD starts running the clock.

Sorry assed bastards, as if drivers didn't have enough to deal with. Got a buddy who's getting a good fuel surcharge, he deleted his EPA one box, damned thing was shutting him down.

No wonder I had a bunch of heart attacks.

Not too long ago and may still apply, you can legally delete dpf if youre waiting on dpf parts only and the dealer will flash everything so that the trucks runs optimally and doesnt derate, your vin is logged into a database and when parts arrive you are to return for repairs or you are subject to the insane amount of fines, DPF is bs and should of neve been a thing, obama pushed that crap down everyones throat and bidens epa is now trying to push dpf for gas.

Yes. Also, someone needs to account for how much fuel has been put into the system in the last 3 days.

3 Days ago, there was only reserve for 3 days.

No, as usual we dictate policy for them, they whine about costs/opinions of their economies by implementing that policy, and then we pay them to do it and they STFU until they can get more of our money.

Remember that picture of Trump at some conference with ole Angela leaning over while Trump sat there arms crossed?  Yeah.  Our foreign policy crew will tell you this is the cost of being the global super power.  Meanwhile China laughs and waits for us to finish the Iran deal with  Russia.

We were reviewing this on Friday (long haul transportation).

It will really flip all of the shipping markets when/if it hits. Right now, there are a tremendous amount of trucking outfits running at a loss and right on the brink of failure.

There is a “perfect storm” scenario that could combine with this and really make things sporty.

In my neck of the woods, they'll drop the delivery fee if you're buying some minimum, I can't recall if it's 100 or 200 gallons.  But that's in a city where you're just one stop on their route that day, I reckon driving distances are farther in farm country.

I filled up my truck and jerry cans yesterday (I don't go through enough diesel at the farm to warrent an above ground tank.  4.99 at Buckee's - fill up cost $304.50.  New record for me.  I already needed to do the trip, filling up at Buckee's saved about $20.

How reserve works. 3 days reserve, one day supply come in, one day supply goes out. You can only get away with 3 days shortfall between new supply and outflows. With a lot of luck and everything working out there could never be a problem. You could also end up with shutting down all shipping in New England in 2 weeks. Dumb game to play

... and if they are trying to stay open, trying to retain customers, and/or they know they will start dropping customers if they jack prices because they are against a price ceiling?

Businesses are against a ceiling and trying to figure out how they are going to work day to day and there aren't any really good answers.
