A buddy and I ran a errand a couple hours away yesterday, and while there we stopped by a few larger chain stores because I wanted to see how bad the lack of firearms stuff actually is around here. Literally 2 had hardly and guns and zero ammo except for 300 win mag, and some .270 and odd calibers. The last one had hardly anything except for some shotguns, a few handguns, a ton of bolt rifles and 2 AR's. One AR was a Sport 2, the other was a Colt CR6920 for a $1000. I have everything I need and then some, but told my buddy he should pick up the Colt since he only has 1 AR. If he didn't I was thinking about it since they are going for 1300-1500 for the CR6920 now. The guy at the counter says they get a couple of those Colts in regularly. Did Colt start selling them again?

You’re lucky if the gun actually has Colt made parts in it, and not some subcontracted to a no-name shop.

They are NOT made by colt. They carry the name but are sub contract parts. MAC did an entire video on it.
Colt made ARs are now no longer made |

It is depressing that Colt AR-15s are no longer Colt AR-15s though. View Quote The M4 TDP has to be an open secret by now, and the government owned M16A1/A2 TDP was FOIA'd and published in several places a few years ago. I'm guessing most manufacturers who don't follow it do it out of cost concerns more than a lack of specs. Even Colt put their name on Anderson-produced budget ARs at one point. |

They won a bunch of military contracts at the same time, and weren't prepared to fill all the volume at once, and had to dedicate production to those contracts. They always intended to resume civilian sales. |

My buddy called Colt about a new one he purchased because it didn’t have a C marked BCG like he was use to seeing, and it had a different feel to it. What I gathered secondhand from him was that the guy told him naturally it was just as good as his older Colts but some things were contracted out. He said the safety was the least positive feeling one he’s ever felt, everything felt gritty and cheap, and he was really worried over the BCG.

Arms Unlimited and others were getting 6920s in the entire time this rumor was being blasted. |

LGS said the shipments they got where all built prior to the “halt” on civilian sales. |

You guys realize that Colt doesn’t actually have a turn key AR factory or anything right?
They are a brand/roll mark that now farms out the work to machine shops who make AR parts....many of them obscure. |

I have a bunch of Colts and one BCM, ha e owned a bunch of BCMs. BCM makes a bunch of different configurations of barrel and handguard. Quality is about equal. I did it the arfcom way and got both, gave the BCM to my fiancée. I did put a bcm free float quad rail on my colt, but I don’t see much difference in quality from one to the next. I’m genuinely curious as to what makes BCM superior to colt. If the argument that colt isn’t making all their parts anymore, then why is it inferior to BCM which also doesn’t make all their parts in house (from my understanding; I could be wrong). I’d bet on my colt being more accurate than my fiancee’s BCM. I think I should go out to the range and do some side by side accuracy testing between both rifles. I have a feeling the colt barrel is superior to the BCM barrel. Do we know who makes the barrels for BCM? |

Is there a link to who makes Colt parts now if it isn't Colt? I can't find anything searching that says they outsource, or who they outsource to.
