Quoted: My favorite from that is still Death Zamboni. View Quote That was a blast. Disappointed I never ran into Randal Perfected in that raid. Wrath is really the father to the D2 raids formula. Prior raids you could shove people into task free/ad clear roles and just have a few people carry the squad responsibility wise. Lots of standing and shooting. WoTM I think took raids in the more dynamic direction and had a great blend of mechanics without being overly complicated but also didn't allow you to steamroll it with a few good players as everybody had to be on point. Those are my favorite encounters where they can seem like a pain to start but as you really dial in the flow you see the rewards of a well oiled machine. Aksis challenge mode where you couldn't miss a supercharge was really a challenge. |

I don't like Vow. I would like to clear it and get some of the weapons from it, but the raid itself isn't interesting to me. I also had a very frustrating day one experience that really ruined me on Destiny and where the game was at the moment. But I'll roll if we've got the numbers and the desire.

I don't see any discussion on the new season.
Overall I think the new content is good. The solar sucks but it always has. The new dungeon is a work out. I think they over done the adds, especially the snipers on the final encounter. I found shotgun, gally to be the best load out for the entire thing. On the first encounter you can shotgun the fake bosses pretty quickly and super/rocket the boss. Second encounter it really doesn't matter what you use. It's mostly add clear with some small bosses. Last encounter when you change realms you can blast the yellow bar Psion and grab the flag and get gone before the colossus fucks you up. One gally will usually clear both bellkeepers. |

I think the reason Bungie didn't really say anything about this season or hype it up until like the day before release is because there really isn't much to it.
I don't like most of the solar 3.0 changes for warlocks. Hunter seems pretty cool. Haven't played titan yet. The activity on the Leviathan is whatever, it's okay for the first run or two, then it gets boring quick. The Sever mission was cool the first time, then on week two to find out that it's the same mission, same boss, that was disappointing. Maybe with the events of week two, next week will be different. Iron Banner rift is a complete and total failure, it just further reinforces my belief that Bungie does not play this game or test anything before it goes live. They do a basic function check to make sure the game doesn't crash and they ship it. I wish they would make smaller changes to stuff, release it and let us play it, then adjust from there instead of reinventing the wheel with huge, drastic changes infrequently. The dungeon is cool. I like the setting and the mechanic. I agree, I do think the ad density is a little ridiculous at times, especially during the second encounter. I mean I love shooting at things and getting kills, but the sheer amount of shit they throw at you can be a lot sometimes. It's a lazy way of making an encounter more difficult. Anyways, I've done it on a voidwalker warlock and a solar/void hunter, both were fine. Voidlock is really nice for the sustain, devour works overtime keeping you alive in there. One of my clanmates was on a solar hunter for the whole thing using the classy restoration mod, which makes the hunter an unkillable tank almost. For weapons, I used a Long Shadow sniper, the Mythoclast and Falling Guillotine from beginning to end. I think I've gotten all the weapons so far except the linear fusion rifle. So far, pretty meh season for me. Only two weeks in though, so I guess we'll see how it pans out. |

The new dungeon is ok...I've only got 5 or 6 clears of it so I'm still learning it, but there's a few interesting cheeses. I farmed the first master encounter a few times with some friends once they figured out a good mechanic for farming it...before reset, it was dropping everything (every weapon and armor item in the dungeon), and it was always a +2 pinnacle, so you could, if you spent 8 hours farming it like my friends did, pinnacle out your characters entirely...me, after 3 runs, I came to the conclusion that the juice was not worth that particular squeeze and bowed out
The cheese, btw, was for one person (invis hunter?) - on the 2nd run in to nightmare land (to do boss damage) - he transmats right by the bell, turns around in nightmare land and snipes the two sniper psions on the outer platforms, and then suicides (and stays dead - do not res). The other two (in our case, welllock and hammer titan) stayed behind and beat the crap out of the boss in a well - weapons were swords and glaives. When their timer ran out and they wiped, in the wipe screen, the one dead invis hunter resses themselves thus preventing the wipe...and the timer resets. The hunter runs to res ONE of the other two dead, and they both resume beating the crap out of the boss for their timer. Why a sword and glaive? This guy is close, so swords do decent damage...and when sword ammo runs out, glaives. No special needed. When that timer runs out and you two die, again the 3rd resses themselves and re-resses one of you and...repeat. It takes 2 or 3 cycles of that to kill the boss. Killing the two snipers on one side greatly, greatly enhances survivability for everyone involved. There's a few other boss cheeses, etc...but now that most people are 1570+, it's not nearly as daunting as it was day one...we went in %100 blind and took 4:10 to clear it. To be fair - one of us had to leave at the boss encounter, before we figured out how to actually do boss damage...the 3rd guy we bought in managed a clear right before, so he was able to give us the details on how to actually do boss damage, which saved us a ton of time. IB/Spark/shitfest is horrible. Between the special changes (which make sense for 3v3 I guess?, totally pointless for 6v6, and fucking horrible for a 6v6 where there's a respawn timer and someone can res you with no special)...it's just bad. Rampant teamates yeeting other teamates into walls to collect their special on death. Way to think that one through, Bungie... The new seasonal event is...meh. Nice they bought back some of the Menagerie weapons. Shitty, shitty way to get craftable ones...I don't think I've gotten a single red border Austringer, though I've gotten a bunch of Mini-Tools and Glaives. Just about to reset my rank at the stupid Crown of Sorrow, too... |
|
[#6]
Also, Revoker, Mountaintop, etc are again a thing in IB...and the special thing has no impact on Revoker, so there's just a billion people spamming snipers now.

I had more run ins with Witherhoard in Iron Banner than anything else. Any attempt to grab the spark is usually met with people on both sides dumping Witherhoard in the middle.

I don't understand dungeons at all.
Just started playing again but can't do much without buying expansions. I got booted from the arfcom clan at some point. To get all the expansions I've missed is $100.... WTF You pay $40 for Witch Queen and you don't even get a season pass for that? No discounts on old stuff? Plus some of the worlds I paid for in the past are no longer accessible. |

Plus some of the worlds I paid for in the past are no longer accessible. View Quote It must have been a LONG time since you've played...basically everything from before Forsaken was vaulted/depreciated when Beyond Light came out in November 2020.. The base of the game is free to play; I think everything in Forsaken is free as well at this point? Blueberries.gg has a pretty good breakdown of what's free and what requires what expansion...actually its a little out of date; Tangled Shore has already been removed, Presage/Harbinger (mini-dungeons or weapon quests like Whisper) were removed, and new ones added in their place, etc. Prophecy is a pretty fun dungeon with some solid loot in it and it's free; the Vault of Glass raid also has some good loot in it and also doesn't require any of the expansions or to pay for anything either... If you bailed at or before Beyond Light, you probably do have Shadowkeep, which means a good chunk of content is still open and available (Pit of Heresy, Garden of Salvation, etc)... The point of a Dungeon is a 3 man activity that is soloable (with some work) - you don't need to scrounge up a 6 man team from big LFG or elsewhere to get it done...good loot, usually a good story or lore behind it. It's not (in theory) a mindless activity like a strike, and the loot is generally farmable...I think they even fixed Shattered Throne to be farmable now. I'm sure discounts are out there on older expansions...and honestly at this point Witch Queen is still new enough where it's probably worth paying for it and getting the season pass(es) if you want to do all the content; you won't get much of a penalty for coming in 'late'. I guess it depends on how much of the campaign and etc you want to do though...if you bailed before Beyond Light and need to catch up, I'd probably just start with that one and get caught up before paying for WQ. |
|
[#13]
Bungie is the worst at explaining things for new and returning players. I've been playing this bitch since launch and I can't really explain things to new or returning players with regards on where to start or what you've missed.
The Destiny Content Vault further complicates this, as old content returning players have played in the past is gone with no real explanation otherwise. So um, I guess if you were the pick the game up today, I'd start with Beyond Light to get the stasis subclasses if you haven't done that, and then go straight to Witch Queen. |
|
[#14]
I'm not sure if I want to invest that kind of money in the game. :/
$30 for BL, $40 for WQ, So I played a game mode last week where it's like the public event type thing that used to be on mars. It was on.... the corrupted Leviathan, and you fought waves of enemies and then a boss at the end. Also similar to shadowkeep waves on the moon but much faster. What is that called? |

I guess I should start invading at some point and get the 3 Army of One medals I need, and make Dredgen official, I guess... |

Just finished my 2nd set (I was grinding out the gambit matches for my last challenge on that char when this happened)...about to start the 3rd set. The 25 gambit/crucible went so much faster when mayhem was in crucible...maybe rumble will be faster, hmm Edit - if you just care about the elemental glows, you don't need to finish the armor...you only need to do the first few steps of the quest; affix the small kindling then put in the other thing that uses silver ash. At that point you should be able to buy the elemental glow ornaments from Eververse. So, if all you care about is the ornaments...easy. And, for some reason, it won't let you transmog the white glows just yet.. |

Everything you know about shotguns is wrong. tl;dr: Full choke doesn't bring anything, statistically, to the table - used rifle barrel or corkscrew, etc...AVOID smoothbore unless you're shooting from like 1m or closer Range is good, range falloff is a thing though...6-7m is hard to get a one hit kill in without some help, regardless of shotgun Barrel length is still a thing - Found Verdict (and timelost as well) outrange other Aggressive frames...because it has a longer barrel. Felwinters btw is poo; Found Verdict is more consistent at longer ranges Handling is good; you want handling as much as you can get...you very much want Quick Charge on your armor with another arc mod affixed for the handling bonus Opening Shot is really, really good; you want it Icarus grip, targeting adjuster...no help, not for spread shotguns. Use quick access sling, and a handling mod on your armor for the _other_ weapon you'll be using; that way you can put away your other weapon faster and get at your shotgun quicker. Or, use radar tuner - it helps, too It gets into details about intrinsic differences between rapid-fire, lightweight, precision, and aggressive frames; lightweights seem to be the sweet spot but they can all really work with the right setup and knowledge of how the perks and aiming works. Also, Duality is awesome and transcends a bunch of the stuff. Longer damage falloff point than the rest in hipfire (by a lot!) than other shotguns ADSing, and of course ADS gives you a 150+ hp boop to the enemy... |
|
[#31]
Timelost Found Verdict is arguably the best PVP energy shotgun in the game for sure, but Felwinter's is still just fine. Especially on a warlock where you can abuse Ophidian Aspects.
I would recommend if some of y'all haven't, and you like to play PVP, to craft an elemental capacitor Ragnhild-D. Might be some cool stuff coming in arc 3.0 and it may be time to dust off those arc subclasses for the crucible next season. |

So the exotic autorifle you get from Lightfall Deluxe preorder is pretty freaking fun. 720rpm with high caliber rounds, it auto fires missiles at enemies with sustained fire, and missile hits prime a secondary pump action grenade launcher.

Also, Dares weapons are craftable now (you have to get the red bar weapons) plus there is a chest in HELM that has a thunderlord, exotic armor, and armor/weapons for all slots for your characters. Supposedly it was to be 1540 gear, but all mine were 1570.

I'm a little...underwhelemed so far
I know more aspects or whatever will be unlocked after the raid this weekend and etc but so far...with void 3.0 there was some awesome stuff and I still run void on my warlock. With solar 3.0, titans got a much needed buff and you really don't need any of the seasonal artifiacts to keep it going (though the one that caused explosions when you stunned a champ was awesome) With arc 3.0...meh? This must be how solar warlocks felt...one step forward, two steps back with solar. Then again I haven't unlocked everything in the artifact yet, so...maybe it'll get better. |

Yeah, new striker titan in PvP is terrifying. It's the strongest that class has been since the heyday of bottom tree striker and OEM.
On the warlock front, things seem okay. Arclock wasn't really viable for most serious content, and I still don't think it is, but it's fun if nothing else. The speed boost is nice, and unlike solar 3.0, while arc 3.0 warlocks lost a skill tree it was basically combined neatly into one. Having landfall, ionic blink and arc souls all at the same time is kinda cool. The fragments so far complement the subclass well and make the neutral game very fun. It's alright, but I still don't think arc on warlocks is the class for end game content. |

I hate King's Fall. Hate it so much I can't stand it. I love the setting and the atmosphere, otherwise everything else in it can kiss my ass, except maybe Golgoroth because that's a cool fight.
But D2 King's Fall, especially Oryx, is a joke compared to D1 King's Fall. It is a cake walk. Our group cleared it last week and not once did I feel like I was in danger in there. One of the dudes in our group who never cleared it in D1 got Touch of Malice in his very first clear. RNG be like that sometimes I guess. |
