I haven't had all of them but I've had a couple, and what I have tried is good. A Dalmore King Alexander III sits on the bar now about 1/3 gone.

Dalmore 15 is good. Not smoky/peaty but very smooth and sweet.

I'm more of a rum drinker, so I'm a little apprehensive about grabbing that bottle though.

That same price will net you a Zacapa XO for sure. Maybe hit a bar and try a sip?

Zacapa XO is my fav!
Not a bad idea, but around here it's either Jack Daniel's or Elijah Craig, and I don't like those at all.

That Zacapa is my wife's favorite and it sits on the bar too...

What's your opinion of The Balvenie 17 & 21?

The Balvenie 21 is my favorite scotch. It has a great smooth finish and I like the port influence, mostly because I enjoy good port. The 17 year old Doublewood is a more traditional Scotch in that you can taste the peat very clearly, although it is mellowed quite a bit by comparison to others. I enjoy it with a cigar, usually a mild flavored Rocky Patel Connecticut. Of the "teen" Balvenie's I like the 15 year old for every day consumption and the Caribbean Cask 14 year old is my go to for introducing friends to the world of scotch.

Dalmore is up there with Balvenie, Highland Park, and The Glenrothes for me. Very solid lineup.

Definitely. I stopped in at the store today to get a bottle of vermouth for the weekend 's Old Fashioned fest. I stopped and started at the Balvenie 30 year old and the Tun 1590 and left with just the vermouth! I came home, cut up an orange, soaking the peel in the vermouth in preparation!

Dalmore is not great for the money.

40% abv - fail (43 and 46+ always better)
Additives - Fail.  Dalmore commonly uses coloring to make their whiskeys darker
Price - fail.  80+ for a 15 year given the above.

If you are looking for a sherry cask whiskey, consider Glengoyne, Glendronach, Bunna, Tamdhu cask strength, aberlour.

I was unaware 17 was peated? I thought they just did the one week a year that they peated barley.

I haven’t explored dalmore too much. 12 is pretty meh, it tastes way too industrialized to me. But their port wood is scrumptious, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about cigar malt.

But I agree. Money wise, they just aren’t a great value.
