Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - DXY

So I'm looking at the DXY and it looks to be higher than it has been in the last 30 years, but people are screaming about inflation.  

So my question is, is it only relevant against other currencies?

Someone in GD that holding cash this year might actually make you more money than the stock market.

Didn't even realize the DXY existed until 3 days ago, so trying to figure out how it relates to investing.
