View Quote it basically binds up on the ships steel against the leading face of each link as it is pulled in one direction. Just keep applying force until that link tears the steel out the way, then repeat. It helps to keep the tension as high as possible, for this application it's around 300 tons of force being pulled. |

View Quote You may also like another favorite channel of mine, the USCSB or United States chemical safety board’s official channel. Very good informative overviews of industrial accidents. Of course they always have to add how more regulation would’ve prevented it (even if none of the current regs did because it was sheer stupidity or incompetence) but I find them interesting. Always a good look at how failures occur at multiple levels for big disasters to happen. My personal favorite was one where a worker tried to removed a valve crank from a pressurized pipe. He unscrewed all the bolts and, predictably the pressure flung it off and diesel fumes went everywhere. It causes a nearby diesel work truck to begin spooling its engine up because of the diesel cloud. Then the cloud ignited. Killed a few people if I recall correctly. It was one of those things where as I am watching the overview I am thinking, “Isn’t that pipe pressurized? While he unscrews the bolts” Then bam it blows off and I’m like oh yep it was. @the_floridian |
