Dog flunked a blood test.  Diagnosis is Cushings.  He's 10 year old little ankle biter mutt.  He's behaving perfectly normal.  I got some meds for him.  What is he in for??

$80 a month in meds, as it gets worse - seizures, mostly at night.  The meds help.

I have one with it, for about 6 years now, takes Vetoryl which is kind of spendy, but dogs can be that way. Needs quite a few calories to keep her at a healthy weight, I don't believe it will get her, I think something else will. Currently 11+ year old black lab and pit bull, less than 2 feet from my right hand as I type this.

FYI, for all concerned, pet meds online are EXPONENTIALLY less expensive that at the vets office. Her Vetoryl at the vet was $170 for 30, online the same medication s $90

We have 9 dogs, all large breed and all 9 to 11 years old, buying pet meds online, cut our bill in half or slightly more than half.

dont forger, the vet can write a script and most pharmacies will fill it
often cheaper than online or the vet office

This is a questions for your veterinarian; not an online gun forum.  I strongly encourage you to ask your DVM any questions you have; it is their job to work through this diagnosis with you and to help you understand why we're doing what we're doing.  Many dogs can live a healthy life with a normal life expectancy but it can be costly (time and money).

Mine got tested but turns out she didn't have it.  She did have all the physical hallmarks but blood test said otherwise.  She did have IMPA (type III) which in and of itself took a bunch of specialists to figure out.
Lots of Dachshunds get Cushings.  It's just one of those things I prepare myself for since I'm pretty loyal to the breed overall.

I've got the Vetoryl.  We will carry on.  Recheck with vet in a couple months.  He has lost some weight.  Otherwise little dude is fine, probably wondering why I've increased the treats.

Cushing sucks, lost my Malamute to related complications when he was 10...meds helped but only slowed it.  Miss him.  Vet did everything they could, even had Ok State Vet school look at him.  It just spiraled and cause lots of other problems.  Big dog big problems!

Vetoryl is really helping.  Little dude is much more active and engaged with us now.  I feel bad I did not notice earlier, I thought he just was getting old and cranky like me.

Good news happy for both of you. It is incredibly frustrating trying to sort out dog ailments, due to the inability to communicate.
