I thought South Carolina was a free state.
The City of Columbia passed an ordinance Tuesday that bans the use of bump stocks and trigger cranks. Columbia's ordinance makes it illegal to attach bump stocks or trigger cranks to any guns within the city, except by military or law enforcement personnel. It would still be legal to own those devices, so long as they are stored in separate containers from firearms. http://www.thestate.com/news/local/article190664809.html |

One of the last places I would have expected.
Isn't FN in Columbia? |
|
Yes.. That is an illegal regulation in that city.. Hope they get sued
http://lawcenter.giffords.org/local-authority-to-regulate-firearms-in-south-carolina/ No governing body of any county, municipality, or other political subdivision in the State may enact or promulgate any regulation or ordinance that regulates or attempts to regulate…the transfer, ownership, possession, carrying, or transportation of firearms, ammunition, components of firearms, or any combination of these things.1 |
|
|
It would apply only in the city limits of Columbia. I'm going out on a limb here but it's probably illegal to discharge a firearm in the city limits.
Oh, and the mayor said no one should be able to use a $30 bump fire stock in Columbia. Someone having a sale? |
|
Only law enforcement and the military need bump stocks and crank triggers to spray into a country music concert!

Read more, post less. This is a few local liberals that passed some feel good legislation that is going to get smacked down and get them slapped around a bit too.

A year or two ago Columbia passed an a temporary ordinance limiting CCW within a certain area of the city.
Can't do that. Can't do this either. |

Individual cities can ban shit like that? How on earth is the average person supposed to know every single federal, state, county, and local law?

@schneecat, our resident pro 2a attorney is all over it. He has sued the city before and won.

Yeah, the taxpayers of Columbia! Hopefully it does. And, I don't even like these bumpfire stock abominations.

City of Columbia is a cesspool of liberal democrats that have run this place into the ground. Think Detroit many years ago. That's where they are now. Columbia PD spends more time patrolling the land grabs while down town burns with gangs and traffic that resembles the bumper cars at the State Fair. Of course T-bone Mayor himself set this precedent the night of his election when he

As per usual, "laws for thee, not for me" government carve-outs.

Lol what a bunch of tards, they don't even know how to government.

They know. He is actually violating a court order from last year that permanently enjoined the city from enacting any gun ordinances after violating the law the last time. They are saying it is not a firearm part according to the federal government, to get around preemption, despite the ATF 2010 letter saying it is a firearm part. According to the mayor on a news show this am the law doesn't forbid the sale, purchase or possession of the bump fire stock. Just the use of one in Columbia. He may not have read the law but that's what he said. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Can't they just ban Democrats since they do most of the shootings?

SC is still a red state, but Columbia is a chocolate city. It will be dead broke in a few years.

When I in-processed at Fort Jackson we were given a brief about the area. A black full bird came in to talk about the local racism. Me being a yankee, I thought "well, this is the birthplace of the Civil War."
He then stated "White people, it's directed at you." After that my sponsor took me to Fatz cafe just outside the main gate. Sure as shit the black hostess literally looked past us and seated the black couple that came in after us. I didn't get triggered and didn't give a shit, I thought it was funny given the briefing I just had. |
