That's a hell of a lotta damage for a Cirrus that deployed a chute.
I wonder how long he was when deployed it? |

Placement and damage looks suspiciously like a departure stall spin, will be a while before we know. I was curious and looked it up, sounds like you need a minimum between 400 and 1,000 AGL for successful deployment. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2016/july/24/how-cirrus-reduced-accidents WX was about 15kts and down the runway at the time. Pretty light winds for that area. |
