This used to be an airport that was close to home airport for me.

SR-22, parachute deployed.  Looks like it went down next to the runway about 3/4 of the way down.  Sad deal, glad 2 survived.

That's a hell of a lotta damage for a Cirrus that deployed a chute.

I wonder how long he was when deployed it?

Placement and damage looks suspiciously like a departure stall spin, will be a while before we know.

I was curious and looked it up, sounds like you need a minimum between 400 and 1,000 AGL for successful deployment.

WX was about 15kts and down the runway at the time.  Pretty light winds for that area.
