Today is the 126th anniversary of the Bottled-In-Bond Act of 1897 which created a new era of quality control for American distilled spirits (primarily whiskey).
To be labeled Bottled-In-Bond, the (typically) whiskey must be: 1. From one distillery. 2. From one distiller. 3. From one season (January–June or July–December). 4. Aged in a federally bonded warehouse under U.S. government supervision for at least four years. 5. Bottled at 100 proof (50% alcohol by volume). 6. The label must identify the distillery where it was distilled and, if different, where it was bottled. Here’s what I’m having in celebration:  |

That stuff can’t be beat for the price.
I feel like the BiB designation has finally gotten enough widespread knowledge that it’s starting to bring a price premium though. |

Used to be a significant difference in quality. Not so these days when dealing with reputable distillers/brands. More a marketing feature now that harkens back to a different time.

My go-to brand. Really, especially for the price, and deserves to be on a higher shelf than down in the floor in the ABC store.

I tend to prefer them to their counterparts within the same brand. Have a couple of these (not my pic) and they are really good - 13 year age statement is remarkable for the price.

My favorite is EHT Small batch.
Early Times punches well above its weight. OGD is a definite sleeper, and should be a staple on every shelf. I admittedly have not had the EW or Dickel....
