Here's a hint.  The largest exchange in the world is not in the US. The real Binance makes CB look like the kiddie pool.

made additional buys on the 2nd dip.  now 50% BTC and 50% ETH/LTC.

all the cheap coins seem like penny stocks.  is there any practical way to assess those, or are people just throwing darts?

They are LOTTERY TICKETS.  Good luck.  At least ETH and LTC have somewhat validated themselves as having staying power in the space moving forward...Somewhat...

Look at the tech. BTC and LTC are dinosaurs that can't do much more than exist.

Eth is a functioning second generation project with significant smart contract capabilities, it can do far more. At the same time it is flawed compared to smart contract platforms built after it. They're trying really hard to catch up, and might succeed.

Later smart contract platforms like Cardano, Tezos, and Eos actually have potential for real use as something other than a speculative investment.

I went all in on Tezos, and is till think it is extremely promising. I do wish I had diversified. Let me go back a few years and I would have been 1/3rd Tezos, 1/3rd Cardano sand Eth, and 1/3rd BTC

Stay away from LTC. Its just an ancient bitcoin clone that was set up with shorter blocks. It isn't being improved. It's never going to go break out on its own. It's own founder sold off everything. At best it hangs in for a while and shadows the market due to overall crypto hype.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking. ETH might be good now for growing your money, but until 2.0 you’re still paying a TON in gas. ADA is already there.

think transaction fee. For all currencies the fee scales with network usage. A low capacity network with high usage will have high fees.

Most of the networks with really high transaction capacities are rather centralized (Ripple, Eos) which comes with its own suite of concerns

If Bitcoin hit $5k again, it'd represent a paradigm shift and probably not a good one.

There are certain things that Bitcoin has never done and one of them is dropping below the ATH from the prior bubble coming out of the following bubble.

The prior ATH in our current situation is about $20k.  If we fell below that, it would be unprecedented.  The next big barrier is the boundary established by a regression line of non-bubble data going back to the very beginning.  I'd have to check to see roughly where that is today but I'm confident that it's higher than $5k now as it was in the $3k-$4k range 11 months ago.

These are things we don't want to see barring some unrelated black swan event like the March COVID collapse which doesn't fundamentally threaten the protocol but nonetheless temporarily crashes the price.  Anything else is fine.

I follow a lot of crypto communities.

Arfcom is the only place where I see Tezos mentioned with any regularity. Not much discussion or attention elsewhere at all.

I know Tezos was shilled here a couple years ago and some bought in, but what's the huge attraction to it?

RIOT. Another one of my great stock trades. Bought back in 2017 in the single digits and sold for a small profit on the way down. It's trading over 50 bucks now.

One of the things I can’t wrap my head around- is 2.0 going to be a separate coin or an “upgrade” for existing ETH?

ETA upgrade. Cool stuff.
