I was reading one soldier's account of the Battle of the Bulge.  He belonged to the 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th ID and was captured.  His squad (12) was all that was left of a platoon and help to hold up the German advance for hours.  Field Marshal Manteuffel was angry that a mere handful of Americans could delay them with few casualties (squad suffered one killed and 11 captured).  Book is Bloody Roads to Germany by William Meller.  Decided to do follow-up reading and this was a very good article that help put Meller's book into context:
