Was gonna respond to the original post and say this is amazing, but the fact that you make your own tools makes it even more amazing.

If you ever decide to start a YT channel....I'd subscribe.  This is cool as hell.  Your scrollwork looks really good and tasteful.  I usually don't go for it, but this looks fantastic.

How much time do you have in that as it is right now?

I also had never heard of French gray, after googling it seems some guys are doing it themselves with cold blue and toilet cleaner.  Crazy but the look is awesome.

I figure about 9 to 12 hrs into it so far. my down fall is  I rush. Seems you can only cut what you can draw on with a pencil if i was a better artist and slowed down it would be cleaner , there are so many techniques and styles. I can get lost in it and lose track of the time spent . Real french grey is hot blued then everything not being lighted is painted with a resist like lacquer . Once dry the un painted surfaces wiped with TB cleaner (the actual ingredient needed is  a diluted posphic acid witch is in the bowl cleaner)  by painting in the back ground only the leaves turn grey and gives a nice two tone effect

I did this one a couple years or so ago i think it was my second gun I used the cold blue / snowbowl method  i intend to be real slow and patiant on the next one

To be honest, I didn't think you'd be able to do much at all on that side. This is better than I could have imagined!
Erasing 'Milwaukee' and putting my name there was brilliant.

Decided to do deep relief on the bill board side today.  Unfortunately was down with a migraine all day yesterday, I guess Buffalo trace and jellybeans wasn’t a good idea the night before.

Heres where i have gotten to this afternoon

That is too fucking cool. I’m startingto wonder if I should even bring it to work.

I can drop the background deeper on the other side witch will make it darker /blacker like the billboard side or leave it two tone your choice……

Is that how you get the contrast? Daub on ink then wipe off the high spots?

Edited fer spellin

Depth and shadows pinholes to trap light rustolium flat black printers ink  there are a lot of ways to get contrast all give different look’s bare is real cool too you can soak it in acetone and remove the blacking and have a completely different effect

Your welcome. Pictures never quite do give a true feel let me know what you think when in hand. I also left a small panel on the edge for small blerbage if you want to have any laser writing added later

Mailman dropped of the knife just now. It looks even better in person, if such a thing is possible. Doing a deeper relief of the basket weave makes it look less like basket weave and more like straps trying to hold everything  together. Which is really neat. I also noticed you polished the red powdercoating out of the notch. That was a nice touch.

Thank you again. And please keep posting any other projects you do. Your work is phenomenal.
