Have had this tree for 3 years now.  We love it.  Prior to that, every year we got a real tree, including a 12-footer one year.

First, it's modular.  We can have varying heights - 6, 8, 10 or 12 foot.   Did the full 12 feet this year.

Shape is perfect - not a gigantic base.  The natural 12-footer was over 6 feet in diameter at he base, and when ready for the trash, I had to slice into segments to get it out of the house.

No more lugging a tree at the lot, throwing on the roof, dragging it inside, vacuuming a bazillion pine needles, getting sap on my gloves and clothes.

I doubt we'd ever go back to a real tree.

Ribbons and Lennox ornaments, from my MIL.

C7 incandescent lights - 15 sets, some LED bulbs - probably pulling 1500-1600 watts

First year with an artificial tree, just got it set up yesterday.  I could probably do a more realistic fluff job, but I think it's looking good.  Only thing I wish it had was a built in female plug for the angel, as it's a prelit tree.  For $1200 you'd figure it would have one.

A modular design sounds awesome.  It would be nice to have that flexibility.

I was thinking the same thing. They advertise an "easy plug" and sell matching toppers. Why don't they plug in too?

Your tree looks very similar to mine, and I'm happy with it. Running another cord isn't that big of a deal. But you would really think they would have the topper just pop in the top section.

My artificial Is pre lit and has the plug at the top.
It was 179 when I bought it three years ago.

Pre-lit artificial tree for the past 12 years here.  We just upgraded to a very realistic looking one with LED lights that are programmable.

I still get a real tree every year though.  We pick out a potted evergreen and plant it in our up and coming Christmas tree forest.  I figure when I die in 30 years there will be a nice little evergreen patch as my homage to Christmas.  Kids will probably sell the place though.

I had to stop getting a real tree due to allergies 3 years ago.  I do miss going to the tree farm,  it was a nice family event picking out the tree

Never had a real tree.  My wife keeps buying fake ones for every room in the house.  I think we’re up to 3?

Bought this house 15yr ago and the tree was in The attic. Missing the star in this pic. Guess the thing is 39years old by now. Looks very life like.  Add a pine candle and game on. Everyone thinks it's real.

Got a real tree this year. My ex took the old prelit artificial tree.

A good looking cedar. Smells good.  Now I need lights and ornaments.

Just picked up a new artificial tree last night. Looks fantastic.

Between my allergies, the pets wanting to eat/piss on a real one, and the mess... no thanks.

I did the real tree thing for years and had a good time taking the kids out and making it a memory. After my 2nd marriage I got tired of trying to pull everyone together and go get a tree and said screw it a few years ago and bought a fake one. No more water , needles , and the pain of trying to get my wife to help out. Everyone wants a real tree until it's time to take care of it.

We’ve had the same artificial for over 20 years. This is its last year.

We’re moving to Florida next year and will have SMALL, live, native trees at X-mags that we will plant on the property after the holidays.

We used an 8' tree for about 30 years until we downsized, then gave it to the church when they decided to quit using live trees. Many of the congregation thought it was brand new. Back then I think it cost about $150.

My mom gives me a ton if shit every year that we put up a fake tree. She’s very much a purist.

Probably wont ever go back to the real ones. Built in lights, no mess, no watering, no allergens, and the dogs are less interested. And… back in the box is easier than disposal imo.

I just spent $399 on a new tree from Costco. We've been using the same pre-lit artificial Christmas tree for seventeen years. Never gave us a second of trouble. This year, one section would not light up. I changed the fuse for that section, I changed the key bulb. Then I changed all the bulbs. Then I said fuck this shit I'm out, and bought a new tree. This thing is pretty amazing. Each section has a power connection in the base of its segment, so as you connect each trunk part you are plugging in all the lights. At the bottom there is a foot controller to turn it on, and a wireless controller to change modes of the lights. I can be an all white tree or multicolored. The LEDs are extremely bright, too bright actually, we had to lower the brightness. What a cool tree. I don't know how much trees are supposed to cost but I thought four hundred was a lot. Hope we can keep his one seventeen years.

I hate the holidays but Christmas is my least favorite.  Total Scrooge.  Wife knows that if she puts decorations up, she's taking them down after.  I'm not touching shit.  She wanted a real tree the 1st couple of years.  I said no more after that because I had to load it, drag it in, take it down, and dispose of it.  Bought her a fake one and she had it up and done in an hour last night.  ONLY reason I do any of this is for our 3 year old daughter.  If she ends up not caring about it after the first few years I'll shitcan it completely.

We always did real trees growing up because they used to be cheap, like $25-30, and they smelled good.  They are no longer cheap.
In my own house now, we've always done artificial, but we don't buy pre-lit anymore.  They are nice and convenient until one day they decide to stop lighting up, then you're stuck with an expensive tree full of dead lights (not It-style Dead Lights, although that might be cool...).  We have a basic 9ft tree that we wrap four sets of LEDs around, it doesn't take but 10 mins.

We've always had artificial trees. Our current one is about 12 years old and is showing its age. I've already started looking for a new one. I want one that's pre-lit and that allows me to use an app to change the colors and design of the lights. I've found several. When I showed my mom and told her the prices, she damn near passed out. All of them were well under $500. I told her that's really cheap for what I want.

Coincidentally, this is Christmas decoration week at my house. Been working on it since Saturday. The outside is done, main tree is almost done, couple other things are done. I still have the secondary tree to do (it has a train set that goes with it) and the village that goes downstairs. That thing takes a couple/three days to get set up; total area for it is 4' x 16'. Plus there's another separate part that's about 2' x 3'.

I have one of those that sits on an old (non-working) wood-burning stove in my kitchen. My sister has the one that plays the Linus and Lucy theme.
