His command straight up fucked this dude. I had multiple items (medium ruck, plate carrier, pouches, other shit) that had a pretty good amount of blood on them from different gunfights, IEDs and shit in Afghanistan, couldn’t get the stains out despite multiple washing and soaking with oxyclean, and I had to pay for it all. They’ll reject it and you can try to get a CIF worker who isn’t a complete fuckhead (good luck), or you can clean the gear, and if that doesn’t work you’re getting a statement of charges that’ll come out of your final pay. I was never in the military, but I've heard enough anecdotal stories about turning in gear to assholes to believe the video. It's criminal IMO to force a grunt to pay for gear that is damaged through honest use. Infantry guys are supposed to use their gear. Who in their right mind thinks it should be turned into the quartermaster in the same condition it was issued after multiple deployments? Completely asinine.

Do any of you guys remember the “mountain rucksack”. We were issued them to test jump. We never jumped them, and I kept mine in the original “SEALED” plastic bag, and when I went to ft. brags cif they wouldn’t take it and actually told me it was dirty and I needed to clean it because it had holes in the plastic, like the ones that are perfect holes. My pat. Sgt finally went with me there and got them to sign off on it, but still got a bill for it several years later against my taxes.

Seems odd to me.
It was 2 years after he left Afghanistan. He didn’t have any post mission layout and FLIPL after Afghanistan. Then he didn’t have anything replaced after 2 years of layouts for training and GRF missions. Sucks he got charged but I wouldn’t have waited so long to make a fuss about missing gear. |

I’m betting I know where that $3500 loss came from if he just cleared CIF and someone probably bought it for pennies on the dollar on Yadkin.
1BCT went out the door with a ruck and A Bag, and most of those never made it to HKIA and were turned around in Kuwait. That packing list doesn’t come close to $3500. However a missing IHPS and the new plate system with plates (issued just prior to that deployment) comes in pretty close to that price, I know he didn't get back on the bird without those items. FLIPLs were too easy after that cluster fuck and plenty of shortages were reconciled in the months afterwords. Some of you are too eager and willing to listen to BS. |
|
|
[#25]
His TL or SL was pencil-whipping TA-50 layouts, or they did the layouts but then the company supply/XO didn't initiate the FLIPL for his missing gear. Either way the company commander (probably on the 2nd or maybe even 3rd company commander since they actually left the gear behind) isn't doing his job. And his 1SG isn't doing his job to be aware of what's going on and make the commander take care of soldiers. All of this is super common and Biden being in office ain't got nothing to do with it.
I had to do a FLIPL one time for a dude that had been missing his helmet for like 3 years. Every time he had a layout or needed to go to the field he would borrow one from someone in another company, so his leadership didn't even know it was missing. He got charged for the helmet. |

Smells fishy. FLIPL should have been done within a couple months of returning.
Shoot, that would have been the easiest FLIPL ever as IO. Easier than the one where I found the missing equipment and closed it out. "Left in warzone due to massive clusterfuck at administration and GO level. No liability for soldier." |

When I was RTD'ed a weeks later somebody handed me an IBA to get on the bird, but my nomex was still on my hand receipt. I was an E3 and like 400 miles away from my HQ/supply guy and was told we would just handle it when we got back, of course it never was. When we got back we had a new supply guy and he wouldn't do it. So, when I cleared post to PCS I paid $60 for the nomex that was cut off me after getting hit by a hand grenade. My next few trips I knew better. I was typically still on my own far away from my command but when I had shit get other people's blood on it I put it in an ammo can and thermited it. I started collecting biohazard memos from senior medical personnel at my locations to pair with destruction memos, which I forwarded if I could, and kept for later turn in if I couldnt. I went through a shitload of boots and gloves one trip and used those memos to continuously get more shit from ADO sent. |
