I keep hearing about extreme weather the past couple years to push climate change bullshit. I know my AO doesn't represent the world, but here, I think the past couple years haven't been that hot, and they haven't been that cold. They haven't been that wet, and they haven't been that dry. They haven't been exceptionally windy. Bad storms have actually been rare. Frankly the most extreme part about the past two years weather-wise in my area has been how unremarkable it's been.

And incredibly, I hear people locally talk about the extreme weather they're seeing right here...they're just gobbling up what they're fed.

Nope. It's hot in summer and cold in the winter here as usual. Just mentioned to the wife last night how we haven't had any major storms this year.

First it was global warming that was the issue. Then when the data didn't fit their narrative it was climate change. Just waiting on the next step where they claim the lack of change in the weather is the issue.

It's Georgia, it's summer (well it was). It gets hot as hell. It'll get cold some in winter, some colder than others.

Same, hot in the summer and cold/wet in the winter. Same as when I was a kid.

It has been a little warmer this year, but that's because of the Hunga Tonga volcano eruption sending a crap to of water into the stratosphere where it is causing warming.

Extreme? No, not hardly, but definitely seeing some different weather patterns than the previous few years.

If anything, the last year or so has felt more like the weather of my childhood, with proper 4 seasons.

Then you're only hearing part of the equation. Climate change is not linear and doesn't inherently mean "extreme".

Reminds me of how a lot of people think tides are the same everywhere around the globe.

Truley define extreme and how it applies to weather. No, it wasxa wet summer. Just few tears ago we had a drought. I bet in a few more years we will havore more rainy summers, droughts, and sunshine and clouds just like I have seen.

Nope. This summer has been mild here. A few days in the 90’s.  I remember much warmer summers. We could use some rain, but I haven’t had to haul water for our well this year.

We got like 1/4" of rain last night, and probably 1/2" total in the 100 days prior.

Last year was hot and dry too.

It all goes in cycles, 2011-2013 (really 2008 to 2016 was the trend) were hot and dry, and then a few years of wet weather, now back to the dry cycle it seems.

Medina lake is 4% full

Lake Travis is 36% full

Canyon Lake is 65% full (the lowest since they built the dam in the 60's)

Just another wet wet spring-fall.

Also coldest since early 1960s.

Honestly our weather has been really boring.  Past few winters have been mild with hardly any snow.  Summers are unremarkable.

The only thing that stands out is all of the flooding.  That has been really bad the past few years.  We've been getting a 100 year flood every other year.  I'm sure a huge portion of the blame is all the fucking warehouses being built taking away permeable surface.

I've noticed something worthy of being labeled extreme. Around here at noon it is bright as hell outside, twelve hours later it is dark as hell. That has to account for something, it keeps happening daily too.

No.  We had remnants of a tropical storm come through this month, with a little rain and some wind in areas that often get wind.  That happens occasionally, so I don't regard it as extreme.

A bit less rain this Summer than usual for Florida

I remember it snowing here once in my lifetime, back in 1977, and they swore back then that it was proof positive of the coming ice age. Shit all melted by 10 AM and hasn't come back since.

I haven't checked the WX Matrix from the SWO, so I'm not sure how the weather is impacting my ops in my AO.

I'll look for in my INTSUM tonight.

Extreme? No not really. We are in a drought. It's eased up some. But I wouldn't call it extreme. It happens.

The summer thunderstorms seem to be getting more intense around here with more wind, rain and a lot more lightning plus a few extra days of extreme heat >100.

I can stand in my front yard and see 4 pine trees that have been struck by the lightning this year.

Normally it's about 1 per year in my neighborhood.

Yep, that's been the case here for feels like 5+ years. We have a lot of locust trees here in the yard; heavy winds tend to break off their limbs pretty easy. In the 90s it felt like at least 1-2 times each summer we'd have a really bad storm blow through that would lead to a major cleanup of what broke off of those trees. The frequency of those storms and subsequent cleanups has really dropped in recent years.

No major or extreme storms at all here in the Houston area.

I didn’t get rain for 3 months. The worst drought I have in my adult memory other than my sex life.

But how stupid the overuse of “AO” is way more important here.

Barely had any snow last winter. The most 'extreme' was the crazy cold front right before Christmas last year.  This summer barely made it over 90 a few days.

We get a couple really crazy rain storms every year and some high winds, but thats the usual.

Hope all is well, OP!

Absolutely no difference in my area.  Maybe it was odd to have such a mild summer for the June and July and then hot for August and half of September.  Usually it is hot in June and July too.

Extreme weather in SW OK, never heard of such a thing

When others ask me what the weather is like here, I just say this is where Mother Nature comes when she wants to go a weekend bender drinking straight moonshine.  You cant do anything about it except hold on.

I remember we got about a foot of snow one storm and some publications went off the deep end with "Omg you think this is bad? It's only going to get worse!". I remember when I was a kid we would have enough snow to dig tunnels in the yard. I was smaller, but not less than a foot small.

It's pretty simple, if your local weather is not exactly the average weather for the region since records were compiled, then it's extreme climate change and we're all going to die.

Last winter in Chicago was one of the mildest we've ever had. Some snow but not a lot. I never even got out the snowblower.

Last summer was also one of the mildest, most temperate and most pleasant that I can remember over the last 30 years.

We just moved to Wisconsin and expect it will be slightly colder in the winter.

I love this climate crises.

Nothing extreme here. One day about 90 degrees all summer long, been pretty mild.

Trying to make it to October first without turning on the heat, as usual.

No, a little less rain this year but that was expected due to la Nina kicking in -- which usually means a
wet winter.

Temps have been milder this summer as well.

Local weather service office is doing some new climate change BS, when they publish the monthly climate
summaries they now say "Xth hottest month on record!" (X usually varying from 15 to 30.) No mention of
low records or anything else that would interfere with the narrative.

Feels like it's done nothing but rain in the NE this summer.
Not what I'd call extreme, more like annoying.

normally i wear shorts all summer and part of spring and fall.  this year, only 3 weeks in august.   i was wearing a jacket last week of august because it was 50* in the mornings.

It’s the weather.

Some years are warmer, some colder.

Some years are dry, some are very wet.

Some summers are sweltering, some are cool.

Some winters dump snow, some winters not so much.

The weather changes. Same as it always has.
