I always find it interesting that Democrats can't wrap their heads around poor people being Republican. They are always like, what?!?! Don't you want the free stuff?!?! I always say hell no, nothing is free dummy. They just don't get it.

My friends daughter was just incredulous "you have a brand new tesla x plaid but no iphone"
I told her 'you mean to tell me you have an iphone but no tesla?" |

I'm aware of some people that aren't aware of hyperspectral SWIR fusion. Thankfully they are at least twice removed from me, so I don't really know any poors.

Economics and "Social Status" have never played a part in deciding who I befriend ...

Quoted: My butler introduced me to my gardener once. View Quote I would hope you fired them both and detailed the circumstances to the others at the country club afterwards. Such cheekiness among the hoi polloi should be stamped out with a quickness, and radicals like that can't be trusted among real people. |

I have a friend with a Century AP5 who calls it an “HK MP5”. I let him get away with it. Is that what you mean, OP?

Quoted: Quoted: Yes, but poor financially is relevant he makes about $125,000 a year. But wife is a stay at home mom, taking care of 3 young kids, one is in school. So not a lot of extra money for them. On the family life he is rich, being dad and a family is his and wife's #1. He is the guy I will give guns to if the SHTF, he has a hunting rifle and hunting shotgun. Both of what he had before being married and a family. |

Not since I retired.
I have a small circle of friends. We all live in a gated Hunt and Riding club (not kidding). Before I retired I was friends with some of my cre who were poor but none of them are from this area. So I haven't seen them in years. |

Quoted: That's not maintaining your lifestyle, is it? That is living a depreciated lifestyle. Even poor people can do that. View Quote Not if the expensive stuff is paid off. (And all debt) (And it isn’t things like a jet or crewed boat that cost more to own than buy) Your main house, a beach house, a ranch, a handful of expensive collectible cars, maybe a small airplane or boat, furnishings, jewelry, whatever….and the savings to no longer have to work, even if it is less money. You can certainly maintain lifestyle while making far less. |

Depends on if you follow Dave Chappelle's wisdom regarding the difference between being broke and being poor.
Someone who is broke temporarily shares the same socioeconomic status as a true "poor", but will not remain among the poor if there's any way out, which there usually is. I know many people who are broke, and have helped some of them to leave that status behind. |

My wife and I are retired. We had to make some cutbacks but we have still managed to vacation in Tahiti, Hawaii and Las Vegas in the last year and a half. We are leaving for the British Virgin Islands in a couple of weeks to charter a catamaran with friends and our kids. But we are chartering bareboat . |

Yes. You can find good people across all economic classes.
I don't care about the size of a person's wallet. I care about the content of their character. My friends would unhesitatingly put their lives in my hands, as I would put mine in theirs. I'm a college dropout that happens to be very successful. Most of my neighbors are professionals - doctors, lawyers, business owners, etc. I actually prefer the company of blue-collar types. I would say my friends break down as 70% blue collar, 30% white collar, maybe even 80-20. |

Poor is a relative term.
We can all be poor or rich depending on who we are compared to. |

Quoted: Do you have any friends who would be considered part of the poors? View Quote With Potato head in office that would be most of us. |

I have some good friends who are hard working, salt of the earth guys that would be there to help you in a second if you asked. They are blue collar and probably make 1/3 - 1/2 of what I do and don't have many assets. They are my friends.
I don't, however, have friends of the "poor" mindset of sloth, not taking initiative, and just doing the minimum of what they have to do in order to get through to the next day. You can have next to no money and still be a good person with pride and morals. Of course, the inverse is also true. |

Quoted: I have a friend who makes decent money but him and his wife just cannot stop spending. They are buried under a mountain of credit card debt. View Quote This is way more common than people realize. If I’ve learned anything from listening from Dave Ramsey’s pod casts over the years; is the overwhelming amount of people that make good money make the dumbest financial choices. When I say people making good money, I specifically refer to individuals who hold bachelors degrees and above. They multiple 100’s of thousands in debt; several financed cars, over budget houses, every thing they can get suckered into: time shares, etc… |

I have friends that will drive across town to save $0.10 a gallon on gas, so yes.

My childhood best friend is poor, meaning he makes about 35k per year, has stay at home wife and special needs kid. I think the kid is 18 now but is one of those that will always need help.
The disparity in our lifestyles doesn't factor into our friendship at all. |

I clawed my way out of poordom, and was inching towards true middle class.
Inflation is screwing that, now I'm slipping backwards into lower middle All my friends are poors though, and there are fewer of them due to their politics |
