Not really. That doesn't mean I am the person to walk I-beams all day on a high rise.

I wasn’t afraid until my mid-20’s. Had a little tree stand debacle and I’m in terrified 5’ up a ladder.

Hell yes. If God had wanted my dumb ass up in the air he would have put wings on me. Cleaning gutters and putting a roof on a 4/12 roof is about my limit.

Not sure what other people mean by "afraid". When I approach the edge of a flat roof, or walk up to a full floor-to-ceiling window in a high rise building, I feel like I start to lose my balance and will fall over. It's not the height itself that bothers me, just that I think I'm starting to fall. Same when walking near the edge of a steep cliff.

I've overcome my fear of heights. It's the people on the ground shooting at you that makes parachuting a bit unnerving.
|
|
[#21]
Nope.
I've worked 40 feet up doing ship construction, no safety lines, no nothing. May not sound like a lot, but it's more than adequate to kill you quite thoroughly. However, that was a long time ago, when I was young, fearless and stupid as a rock...now I'm old and wondering how in the HELL I ever managed to get that way. |
|
[#23]
Yep.
Still go up a ladder or on a roof from time to time. I try to avoid it whenever possible |

The older i get, the less I like heights. I used to frame homes, and would regularly walk 2nd story plates that weren't kicked off with no issues... now, I won't even work 1st story plates with out a ladder.

[#28]
Yes. I'm uncomfortable with high exposure. It can be overcome. I summited my 20th peak last summer.

Don’t work in a refinery. Those big columns swing and sway when you climb them, which makes it worse. If it doesn’t bother you, you can move up the chain and not have to deal with it, but you’ll do lots of climbing to get there.

Nope.
Riding on mountain roads with steep drops freaks me out. Talk about hugging the high side. |

Walking across the glass floor on the Shanghai Eye, my hands were nearly dripping with sweat.
Little kids were stomping on the glass floor for fun, I have no idea how people aren't afraid of that shit. |

Yessireebob...
I also get the heeby jeebies standing on the ground looking straight up at tall buildings. I feel like I am going to fall over. |

I can plod around on the roof of my 2 story house just fine, but the observation deck of the Sears tower had me damn near paralyzed last summer. You can feel the damn thing move and shift with the wind loads. I hate flying, but looking down at 30K feet doesn't bother me. |

Conditionally. Tall buildings or gantries and stuff? Yes. Planes? Nope.

It’s been a while, but I’ve done some tower work.
So, no. Not really. |

Those climbing vids on YouTube of antennas, cranes, chimneys, etc make me feel really uncomfortable

Volunteered on a tall ship for a few years. One hand for you, one for the ship... Never had a problem. Loved it, actually. It was like an adult jungle gym. |

On a ladder or on my roof - yeah.
But in my airplane I feel totally at ease all the way to the highest I have flown it (17,500 ft). |

spent my teenage summers as a laborer for my dad's steel setting company, spent about 11years as a journeyman ironworker......so no, I have a healthy respect, but no fear.
