The Byrds - Chimes Of Freedom (Audio) Mom easily. She's a British flower child (How she and my dad made it work is beyond me.) She always tears up when she hears this song. |
|
My mom had a ton of 8 tracks when i was a kid.
Usually Johnny Cash in the player. I don't think my dad ever owned any music. When i was a teenager he always had his radio tuned to WLLR (all country, all the time) Although he never listened to the radio when others were in the car. |

Any Fleetwood Mac song from Rumors and Tusk. Overall, the songs are nice on the surface, but once you get to understand the lyrics, and why they were written...explains my Mom and Dad's animosity towards one another. Affairs, alcohol, and "mild" drug usage all intertwined, coupled with immaturity - I and my Sis didn't know about it or put 1 and 1 together until we were "adults".

Any thing by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.
That album cover with the girl covered in whipped cream. ?? |
|
Mom's fav was 'It's Crying Time Again" by Ray Charles.
2nd fav was 'Counting Flowers On The Wall' by I think the Four Lads |
|
"Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" reminds of driving into NYC to visit my grandfather in the back of my dad's '73 Nova.

Lots, but father and son by cat Stevens comes to mine. My parents were sort of late/younger/last if the “hippies”. Dad did not serve and had high draft number....later end up in the sand box with cadaver dog. Both parents were conservative in values. Guess you could say classical liberal or small l libertarian. They’ve always been or in my fathers case were very pro America but did not want war, while being adults with working minds realize what you want and reality don’t always mesh.

Born in the USA, terrible song, my dad has shitty taste in just about everything.

First song my dad taught me on the guitar. He and my mom used to dance to it in our living room.
It was also the song my mom and I danced to at my wedding. In My Life (Remastered 2009) |

For Those In Peril On The Sea - my dad
A Mighty Fortress Is Our God - my mom |

Rat pack/Crooner style music, Dean Martin, Sinatra...etc...etc..
Classical Old country, western ballads, bluegrass mountain music |

This and several others were played on Sunday morning, pretty much any song off a johnny cash album. |

Dad used to listen to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass and that particular album all the time. He played sax and clarinet in a couple of bands. ANY polka reminds me of Dad. He also listened to Boots Randolph often. I can still hear the song Yakety Sax in my mind. Mom really wasn't into music that much as far as I know. She never listened to anything on her own. |

IN THIS MOMENT - Whore (OFFICIAL VIDEO) |

Black Betty by Ram Jam. Sitting in the back seat of the Mercury with WLS on the radio. That song would come on, and you could actually see the old man cringe.
I've got it saved to my favorites on Spotify. Miss you Dad, love you Dad. :) Damn thing went blind.... |

Metallica: Nothing Else Matters (Official Music Video) |
|
Pretty much any Big Band music for Mom and classic country (Hank Sr., Bob Wills, Jimmie Rodgers) for my Dad.

Watching golf coverage on ABC in the 70's with mi padre
BARRY WHITE & Love Unlimited Orchestra - Love's Theme My folks also had this on 45 and used to get jiggy to it: A Taste Of Honey |

Metallica: Enter Sandman (Official Music Video) Metallica reminds me of riding around with my dad in his truck when I was a kid, Enter Sandman especially. |

Would absolutely have to be something by Nine Inch Nails.
Miserable, mystified, disfunctional people find each other and take temporary refuge in that comfort zone. Then the bombs go off. |
|
For my mom: time marches on by Tracy Lawrence or American dream by Cold
For my grandma, the wind beneath my wings by Bette middler For my uncle Richard community property by steel panther For my uncle Alan: some random techno dance song they would play in a gay bar in the late 90s. Maybe by real McCoy or rythmn of the night by Corona. |

My mother loved to dance back in the day. Ran across this this Martina Mcbride cover of one of my mom's old favorites. Put me in mind of her.
Pick Me Up On Your Way Down My dad would dance with my mom, but I seldom ever heard him mention favorite music. I do recall him always letting this old Freddy Fender tune play if on the car radio. I figured he liked it, but would never openly admit it. About six months before he died I was helping him at the house. I was bluetoothing some of my playlist in the truck as we did repairs. I noticed when this old song came on that he'd drifted off from me and he stood by the truck for a better earfull. I was right. Freddy Fender - Before the Next Teardrop Falls RIP, Mom and Dad. |

There are SO many. But I can't hear this one without being immediately transported back in time to being a small child, listening to this song with my parents... and sometimes they even pulled their acoustic guitars out and played and sang it. I mostly didn't appreciate the songs they listened to, but I sure as hell do the older I get.
Gordon Lightfoot - "If You Could Read My Mind" (Live TV performance) |
|
Green Green Grass Of Home , Porter Wagoner , 1965 Although it seems to me l remember Tex Ritter covering it. However l couldn't find it. But this was one of dad's favorite songs. Or any song from his album "White Lightning Express". Or anything Hank Williams who was dad's favorite performer. Mom really liked Hank Snow, but no particular song comes to mind. But she and l would watch the Porter Wagner Show every Saturday just before she started fixing supper. That's when l fell in love with Miss Dolly. |

My parents travelled to Sedona, AZ, once and loved the area. They used to talk about how movies were made there before Hollywood became a thing and Westerns fell out of favor, etc., so this song reminds me of mom & dad.
Houndmouth - Sedona |
|
Pretty much any Elton John song. She's a huge fan. I still have flashbacks to my youth......when I was a kid it was her Saturday morning cleaning music right she'd blare right before she came to wake us up for chores
|

In the Mood. Dad played with Jimmy and Tommy in the Battle of the Big Bands and backed up Glenn's gang on the skins several times.
Glen Miller .... In The Mood |

My Dad was a DJ, so pretty much every top 40 song from the '70s and '80s. And lots of songs from the '50s and '60s.
|
|
Not sure why as my dad isn't a big Phil Collins fan, but still does.
Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight He loves this jam from "My Name Is Nobody": My Name Is Nobody (fishing) |
|
My dad is a huge CSNY and Neil Young fan. I remember for what seemed like years he had Harvest Moon in the tape player as I went on road trips with him exploring the rural PNW
Neil Young - Harvest Moon [Official Music Video] |

Several that remind me of my mom but this is probably the quintessential one.
Don Williams - I Believe In You Brings me right back to sitting on the floor watching Nickelodeon and eating a grilled cheese sandwich while that played on the radio as she danced/swept the floors around me. |
|
This song always makes me think of my dad and how many times he tried to give me good advice that I ignored. Took me until I was in my 40s realize.
Travis Tritt - Where Corn Don't Grow (with lyrics) |
|
The chorus of this song always reminds me of my dad (he was not a good guy):
And it all crashes down And you break your crown And you point your finger but there's no one around. Just want one thing Just to be the king But you're castle's crumbled and you're left with just a name. Where's your crown, King Nothing? Metallica - King Nothing (Official Music Video) |
|
Nope. My parents are asshoe. My cunt of a mother left when I was 14 and my libtard father won't talk to me because I voted for Trump. My Asian in-laws are awesome though. What does Taiwanese classic rock sound like?
|
|
I still cannot listen to this song without tearing up. Reminds me of perfect times with a unbelievable dad. I was truly a fortunate man to have had the father I had.
Come and Let Me Look in Your Eyes |

Mom played Jim Reeves all the time when I was a kid, loved his voice. Dad never really listened to music much as I recall. He liked to listen to religious stations while driving, he rarely played music at home or in the car.
Jim Reeves - Am I Losing You |
