I got a call from my lead informing me that when he attempted to email me it bounced back as invalid address, tried to log into company portal and access denied!
Called my manager and he was pissed, thinking that I had walked! Since I can no longer log my billable hours or fill in my timecard, I am done! Going in to see if I can get on site to retrieve my tools. Now to see how long before they deposit the promised separation package in my account. |

You’ll love retirement. I retired last year. I absolutely love it!

If that's your threshold for retirement, tomorrow's my last real day too.
Until I run out of money. |

Walk in and tell them the boss told you that you can take whatever tools you want.

Man, I wish threads like this would actually explain what the hell is going on when it is posted. I despise guessing games. Good luck OP, or is it a joke? I have no idea!

I was forced into retirement last September, about four months early and I love it.
They have called be about coming back next month, I might do it for a short time if I can still work from home. |

Been retired two years, it's great. Range time anytime you want it, every day is Saturday!
ETA: Forced into it too, but rolled with punch, it's great. |

You quit because the email server had a problem and you're not in IT?
ETA: is that how they fire/retire people where you work? |
|
[#19]
I would say I’m sorry or congratulations, but you’ve given us almost no info. I’ll just say your thread sucks and if you’ve lost your job, maybe you can make better threads from here on out.

View Quote Not really a single mouse click Logging in to the server or office 365 portal Looking up the name, click on it, etc.. I love the people that think things are done with a mouse click. Servers are down, no internet, no one can access the CAD server. What do you think? 5 minutes it will be back up? |

A friend told me of a coworker who came back from lunch and found an IT technician and a security officer at his cubicle. The tech was taking his computer and the security guard was there to keep the peace. This became normal for this place! There were so many managerial layoffs that a common joke was to meet someone coming back from lunch and say, "I understand congratulations are in order!" This company was a high tech .gov contractor, formerly owned by a highly eccentric aviator. ETA OP, sorry that you found out this way. Hope things are looking up for you soon! And... I retired in February of 2018 and am loving it! |

A friend of mine worked at a place with a high employment turnover, he said you never knew if you were still working there until your key card either opened the door in the morning or it didn't.

I got a retirement letter from the Army about 4 years ago. I have 20 active federal service until 2023. A call to my BN S1 had it fixed in a couple of hours.

Were you fired?
Laid off? Downsized? Your boss knew? Or didn’t know? Maybe congrats, maybe too bad. But either way, your thread sucks. |

Where I used to work, the one guy was supposed to get let go, but he was out sick that day. When he came in the next day his badge didn't work because nobody had told IT it was delayed, so they went ahead and deactivated it on schedule.
At the place before that the one guy was going to get laid off but he was scheduled to be out of the office on a two week Mediterranean cruise. So, instead they moved up his termination date and told him right before he left. Have a nice trip!!! |

I was forced into retirement, WAY too young for that.
At least I still have my guitars to make money off of. Good luck, I hate retirement! |

Safe thread.
Dude obviously doesn't have to go into work, so OP should be able to reply. Maybe he couldn't figure out how to log back into ARF and now he things the .gov is putting him away? |
