Shoot.

Time to celebrate RP!

@Rat_Patrol

Automatic first layer calibration.

That's awesome.

Would be awesome if they could somehow implement different nozzles into a single print.

So instead of multi material, just have multiple nozzle sizes.

Print infill and large, low detail with a 0.6 or 0.8 nozzle, and swap for 0.4 or 0.25 for detail work, all in the same print.

Wife said no can do for now. I guess I'll stick to my MK3S+ for now.

It's baked in already.  You can slice for any size nozzle, change the layer height, add in another size nozzle.  Soluble supports in one toolhead, tpu for hinges.  One of the accessories is a pull up bellows, which creates an enclosure.

A very cool machine so far.

I'm seriously floored. This is the biggest advancement in 3D printed Ive seen yet.

Really, really something...

Still convenient in single mode, not having to swap filaments in and out of the extruder.

Some real cool and killer tech there.

Tool heads are not cheap; but they provide speed from changing out a nozzle, to type of filament.

So a full build out of 5 tool heads + assembled is at 4k.  I wounder what (if any) import tax on this hardware will be?

Only thing I think I saw was missing was a enclosure shell option for the printer.   But wait....from their website

>There are some coming soon features.  There will also be optional addons (draft shield/enclosure) available, which will be revealed later.

They best be sending the large bag of gummy bears with the unassembled kit.

I can't imagine that would be difficult at all to configure, and e3d has had that feature for a long time.

I am definitely tempted.  My Mk3s+ has been flawless for well over 1000 hours of printing.  No tweaking required, it just *works*.

Pretty sure they will pay for themselves within the first month.  We might expand some of our contract printing if we find we have any excess capacity.

I look forward to hearing of your experience, did you order the semi-assembled or the ready to go model?  (We got the semi's, looking forward ot tearing those beasts down and building them up again to see all the magic.)

For everyone jumping on these,  what are the benefits of the Prusa XL over a printer like the CRAFTBOT FLOW IDEX XL?

Price is comparable, enclosure is included on the Flow,  Idex is interesting but maybe not as useful in real life.

Unless you need more than two materials, an IDEX will be faster than a toolchanger. There might be some people out there really wanting to print tri- and five color benchies, but multi material printing is much more useful with... well, multiple materials, and not just for adding color. Although you certainly could use it for that for craft making people doing ornaments or decorations who don't want to paint it.

Certainly there is a use case for that- a multiple material part that also incorporates breakaway or dissolvable supports, or using multiple forms of flexible or non rigid filaments for all sorts of purposes- but it's absolutely niche. Extremely cool, but very niche.

As these things evolve I think we arent terribly far from starting to see affordable SLS machines show up on the market. A year from now when literally everyone has toolchangers, I figure that that has to be the next step...

It's an impressive printer.

Basically eliminates some of the most time consuming aspects of 3D printing.

The tool changer is awesome along with the bed design.

I still want to build a Voron though, but would love to see them incorporate some of the Prusa features.

I have a number of Vorons, none of them come close to what I have seen the XL being capable of.   Buy the XL kit, you get the putting together experience, and the latest technology.

Only thing lacking is having to make a serial number video.
