I'm looking to focus a beam of sound over about 100 yards or so. Anybody have any experience with these?

Would something along the concept of a very large, 6-12" diameter, silencer with the sound going in the opposite direction work? So in other words instead of the cones 'peeling' off the sound to the sides, the cones would focus the sound in the center.

Thoughts?

How loud do you need this sound at your target?

When you mention parabolic, that concept is like concert PA speakers that utilize horns to direct the high frequencies.  From home audio perspective Klipsch and JBL utilize horns and others Like Revel utilize parabolic.

If you wanted to try DIY you could maybe use PVC Pipe with speakers mounted at one end with the open ends placed in an array to direct the sound. You will need to know how to wire the speakers appropriately for the amplifier you will need to use and then also a way to get your source signal to the amplifier
