To help stop Governor Northam’s gun ban bills, would your wife be willing to sign a letter to the editor of your local newspaper?

What we need is a letter titled:  “GOVERNOR: DON’T PUT MY HUSBAND IN DANGER!”

The text could read:

“Governor Northam:

Your party pre-filed numerous firearms bills shortly after winning a slight majority in the state house and senate in November.  You have promised ahead of time to sign any and all of these bills.

You have also claimed that the bills are “gun safety measures” designed to “save lives.”

Nothing could further from the truth!  Every one of these bills targets only law-abiding citizens of the Commonwealth.  Furthermore, these bills will needlessly put law abiding citizens in direct conflict with law enforcement officers like my husband.

Crime rates are already falling in Virginia, as they have for many years.  There is no proof that banning possession of large capacity magazines will stop or even reduce crime, including mass shootings.  In fact, after the Federal Assault Weapons Ban lapsed in 2004, crime committed with all types of guns actually went down drastically.

More than 75 of the Commonwealth’s 95 counties have passed 2nd Amendment Sanctuary resolutions, so it is obvious that the people of the Commonwealth do not want these laws passed!  Despite that fact, your attorney general responded by threatening to have the National Guard arrest my husband if he doesn’t carry out your partisan agenda to disarm law abiding Virginians.

But most of all: please do not needlessly put my husband in harm’s way for the sake of partisan politics, which were financed by out-of-state billionaires. “

While the Washington Post would never publish such a letter to the editor, I bet many local papers would publish it.

If your wife is inclined to write such a letter, feel free to borrow as much of all of my suggestion as you like.

Let’s keep up the pressure!  And thanks in advance for anything you can do to stop these laws.

Eh. I wouldn't want my wife putting my career in jeopardy by trying to be proactive in this notion. I'm hiring onto a state agency and would like to stay under the radar as much as possible.
