I'm 49 and eligible to retire at 57

currently 100% of my TSP is in L2040

conservatively i thought maybe moving it to L2030

Recommendations on proper distribution going forward?

I'll be 47 in 2040 and that is where all my TSP is.. shouldn't it be closer to your actual retirement date?

thats my point....it should be in the 2030, but other schools of thought recommend a percentage split of just C,S and G

The closer life cycle fund you pick, the more of your money sits in government notes.

When all this money printing inflates away your retirement cash, you won't be catching a break with inflated securities prices you would have had with a bigger allocation in C funds and other stocks.

It seems counter intuitive, but I think stocks are almost a safer bet for preservation of value than government bonds right now.

S fund is up 97% over the last 12 months.

Seriously.

Read that twice.

You don't want all your TSP sitting in cash equivalents throughout your retirement years. Some of that money won't be needed for another 20-30 years after you retire.

My wife has been .gov employee for 18 months. Started maxing TSP 75% S, 25% C on day 1. Nearing 50k currently. Nuts.

Better to determine your own asset allocation and distribute the assets that way.

All of the Lifecycle funds seemed overly conservative to me.

L funds are my conservative funds, but I only am putting 10% into 2050 I think

The rest is S and C.
