I think they look fucking stupid. Your road car is not a race car (yes, even your super/hyper car), stop trying to make it look like one.

All these cars would look better in factory/paint to sample colors:

And the funniest part? You technically have to pay these companies a royalty to paint/wrap your vehicle in gulf colors or whatever

And let me get this one out of the way:

Not a huge fan of any of that shit. Unless you’re a factory racer, don’t you feel like a dweeb putzing around and getting stuck on your factory rider looking sled? I order them in plain black and wrap all mine now, and custom order them without the logos:

How about a middle of the road opinion. It is fine for fun cars that you do track days with and sometimes drive on the street.  Not fine for your daily driver.

lol

Closer to the opposite actually.

Ordering a 918 in the $70,000 liquid silver paint option, or being important enough to the manufacturer to get a PTS allocation for your order is a classy way to flex (if that’s your objective).

Yes, I realize it’s big money and a big deal to be selected to buy a heritage Ford gt for example, but that still doesn’t make the car look classy.

A reasonable compromise. Still not sure I agree though.

I guess I just don’t get the appeal of looking like a factory driver/rider unless you actually are getting paid to drive that shit.

But it's OK if I paint my jank hoopty in racing livery? Or do you just hate vintage racing livery in general unless it's on a vintage racing car?

Is that the best you can find to dislike on other people's vehicles?
Observe:
Carolina Squat
Fart cans
Slammed cars
Stickers on rear windows
Offset wheels
Spoilers
Neon lights
Excessive chrome
Excessive black
Excessive anything
Lifts
Lowers
Large antennae
Fuzzy steering wheel
Fuzzy seats
Fuzzy dice
Stuffed animals on dash
Bobblehead on dash
Jesus on dash
Mary on dash
Hydraulics
Yellow shocks
No shocks
White wall tires
Plastidip wheels
And I haven't even had coffee yet.

I dunno....the original paint scheme for the Ford GT-40 looked pretty good to me.  Once they start goobering it up with advertising, it wrecks it though.  No sponsor logos on the vehicle though...just the original paint job.

No, dressing your hoopy in race car colors is even dumber than dressing your super car in race car colors.

I find it acceptable to own/drive a car with a historic livery if that chassis actually raced under that livery. In fact, that’s fucking badass. Like this $70 million 250GTO that the weather tech guy owns. It actually raced, and won in the early 60s:

Everything else is posing and a bit cringeworthy IMO.

Ultimately though, people can do what they like, I don’t really care. It’s just like, my opinion man.

What if I'm driving my liveried race car on the street?

The rules mean the rally car is technically road legal and tagged.

And yet Ferrari has the Corsa Clienti/FXX program where they race actual non road legal, stripped out race cars.

There is a difference between racing a road car, and racing a race car.
