Who else is a fan?

I used to love Legos as a kid. I could sit down with a bin and build/play for hours and hours. I recently bought some new sets for the first time in decades. It's amazing what they have available now!

My wife is the huge Harry Potter fan, I just love the building/project  We've had a ton of fun working on them together. I've got some coming now that are on my list.

I've got all my old Legos in my parents attic somewhere. I'll have to take a look sometime. Apparently some of those old sets are worth some big money, even opened and played with.

I collect. Money, and space become limiting factors. I hope to one day have a Lego room in my house.

Check out Brickset for news and tracking your collection. Bricklink is an excellent source for parts and old sets.

The kid(12) just came in the livingroom with that owl, he powered it with 2 small motors so it flaps its wings remotely.

Yea. I'm not exactly sure where all of this is going to go. That Hogwarts castle is going to be huge. But a lot of these are nice enough to actually put on display so I don't think I want it all in some separate room or basement or something. I'm thinking about getting a light kit for it too.

That's cool. How do you go about that? Is there some software to help plan everything out? Or do you just start building?

The program I used to create it originally was Lego Designer I think, but its now defunct.

A third party has picked up the reigns.

I just finished up the Saturn V for myself. Hoping to pick up the space shuttle and ISS. To complete the space sets I want. I also have the lunar lander I haven't built it yet though.

I'm still not sure how I want to display the rocket. I kind of like the wall mounts that split up the stages, but it's impressive just standing there, I love the scale of it standing against the nanofigures. Or where everything is going to go, because it probably won't all stay there

I wanted the lunar lander and ISS to complete the collection and they're supposed to be retiring this year. But yea they definitely look like weaker builds.

It's 5 standard (32x32) baseplates tall by 4 1/2 baseplates wide, or 160 studs by 144 studs. That works out to be about 1 stud per 2.5 miles.

The colors correspond to the general ecosystem of the area, city, desert, forest, or grassland and the entire thing is topographic from 1 to 6 plates high.

Nice. Double points day!

I really like the Thor's hammer. I'm not even a Thor fan, though I've seen all the movies. I just think it's really cool. I've definitely gone for sets now that I think have good display ability. Not too interested in playing with LEGOs at this point. And I think the hammer would display well. That along with the infinity gauntlet. But still not sure if I'm a big enough fan to justify it.

My wife still wants the guardians of the galaxy ship. And I still want the home alone house for holiday display.

I might have to use that brick builder to attempt to make a motorcycle.  Use the new BMW rr set as a base. It looks awesome.

My kids have a lot of legos, and my wife has had several sets for herself (mostly halloween sets).  I held off and didn't get any for myself until the 911 RSR.

Then I had to have the 488 GTE.

Then the Lamborghini Sian.

Then, fuck it, might as well get the AT-AT too.

ETA saw there was mentions of MOCs above, didn't mean to repeat

Not a great photo but my mom's boyfriend, who is over 80 years old, just finished this one.  I guess it's called their MOC or My Own Creation series where people basically create these things with some minimal support from Lego, so just regular people that aren't employed by Lego.

This one has over 11,000 pieces with all kinds of gears and shit, it moves/operates in multiple ways.  He also did the mobile crane which was also cool.

He kept having to order new parts b/c these things are so complicated they dont always come with every single part needed.  Half the battle is tracking the parts you have and what you've used b/c you get to sections where you either made a mistake somewhere prior OR you just didnt have that part to begin with..

The Batman series definitely has some cool sets. Just not a big enough fan to buy them for myself either. The 1989 stuff has been my favorite so far though. That batmobile is recently retired and already gone way up in price. I still might get a batwing to tuck away though.

Nice. I still have to get to my parents house at some point to see what's there. I remember a skull island and the pirate ship with a skull on the back and tilting mast. I don't think I had any other pirate stuff.
