Rooty the Great Root Bear, the mascot of A&W Restaurants for 60 years, will hence forth be wearing denim jeans.
In a Twitter post, the company suggested that Rooty’s lack of pants was "polarizing." Link "America, let’s talk. Since 1963, Rooty the Great Root Bear has been our beloved spokesbear. We knew people would notice because he’s literally a 6-foot tall bear wearing an orange sweater," the company said. "But now we get it – even a mascot’s lack of pants can be polarizing." Moving forward, Rooty will wear be wearing jeans. The company said Rooty will still remain the company’s official "spokesbear" despite the update. "We are confident Rooty will continue to champion good food & good times for many years to come…now in denim," A&W Restaurants wrote.  |

I ate at ah A&W in Utah several years ago. I don't remember any bears (with or without pants), but I do remember the food sucked.

Seriously they just made a Bear's bear . I'm cool with "bears" (body positive bros) and they'll love having another scene mascot. I just don't think A&W thought this one fully through. This bear didn't have genitals until now that A&W covered them. Anyone wanting to sexual Anthropomorphise their mascot has the dirty mind.

There's an A&W in Cobleskill NY. It looks like a 1980s movie set. There are even phones at the booths for you to call the kitchen (I think). I don't know if they work. It's completely unchanged from decades ago.

A&W used to have a whole bear family as mascots and even built their burgers around them back in the 60's. Papa sandwich, Mama sandwich, and baby bear sandwich, looks like dad was the only one that survived. A&W was also one of the first chains to char broil their burgers.
