My son and I have decided we are in. We'll figure out how to 'officially' meet the physical requirements (I don't think they'll be a problem) and just plan our summer around this event. I will also work on being able to provide some sort of a prize and if I need to help with any organization I will. Thanks View Quote We all held these American values, most of us weren't converts, we believed in these values for decades. But to watch our side absolutely come alive is an amazing thing to be a part of. Guys that had gear are actually wearing it, not stashing it in a closet. Guys aren't saying "Oh well, not my problem." Or "Nothing I can do." There's this feeling of we want to be left alone, but we don't give a shit what others think anymore and also we need to join together. Fuck red and blue. CONSTITUTIONAL WAVE |

CONSTITUTIONAL WAVE View Quote These rights are individual and not provided by any law of man, they are simply rights. My dad (a boomer) has the idea that voter apathy is when you get what you deserve and VA got what they deserved by letting the state flip. I can see that and I agree. But the individual rights of mankind are not negotiable to me. It doesn't matter if a state decides that you must teach crap in schools, tax everyone to solve made-up climate change or heal racism by whatever means they decide will work. As long as they don't interfere with the basic rights of mankind. Further, the reason people lose access to those rights is when they stop fighting for them. That doesn't matter, if only one person left in the entire state of California wants to exercise his right to worship or speech, it doesn't matter if every other person in the state has voted to prohibit him. They can't vote away that right. So I've decided that I will do all I can for the individual rights of mankind everywhere I can. Last week that meant taking my bad arm and my good son into what was potentially a death trap. The fact that it turned into the safest place in the lower 48 was irrelevant, I will walk into that unarmed (or one-armed as it was) to defend individual rights. If I can show my children the importance of not only the rights but the responsibility of DOING something for those rights, I'll die happy. I hope the rest of the nation is motivated. I feel like kicking some ass, although I'm not exactly competent at such things. I'm just a frustrated middle-aged guy. But I'll do what I can. Screw these guys. |

Boy, I’m feeling super pumped and motivated about qualifying and getting into something like this!
Everyone’s recent political efforts have been truly inspiring. I never served, but grew up in punk rock and I think this sort of grass roots organization is punk as fuck. As an adult, I never found a group I wanted to be a part of until I found the arf community. Western MT/ Bozeman area here, any battle buddies getting together out here? |

We have our 1st AZ Battle Buddy hike scheduled in February, and I am looking forward to meeting more of you in June. Hopefully that's the case. I'm following the thread for now. I'll be in that area starting the 7th and will be there at minimum until the 17th, possibly as late as the 21st, depending on how fast the work gets done and if I want to stick around for a bit afterwards. For most of that time I'll be working form dawn to dusk, but if something comes up shortly afterwards, I might try to stick around a bit for a hike if there's one close enough. If I have to take my friend I'll be working with to Sky Harbor, I may also end up driving down to Tucson to visit a friend for a couple of days before returning to CA, although as sick as he is, he might not be able to do the hike himself if it ends up being closer to there (even though I know he'd be interested). Dude almost passed out at Cola Warrior Flyover II during his run. |

I can’t believe I haven’t seen this yet. I need to get busy and get BB rated.

Would like to see a winter version of this. June is fire season out west, can’t commit to those dates and wouldn’t want to eat up a slot. Sounds like a good time though!

For team events, are you picking a teammate or being assigned one at random?

Assessing. What's the closest airport? View Quote I’d be willing to accept packages if you need to ship stuff ahead, I even have a friendly FFL in town if you need to ship guns. I can just accept the packages and bring them up with me. Ben, my son and I will be going, getting the rating is a formality that has to wait for some weather to improve, but I’m willing to spend non-refundable deposit if I need to. As mentioned before, also willing to help with admin duties. ETA- I will also have space to take people from the SLC airport, but I’d imagine it’s not worth the drive to save the flight cost into Billings. But it’s still available. |

Quoted: Sounds good. If you’re ok with me witnessing him I’ll go kick him out of the truck and make him run home a few times with a backpack and get him rated ASAP. If you don’t expect the registration to fill quickly I won’t worry about it and we’ll both be rated in a couple of months anyway. I tried to hike this morning but -3 degrees turned me back after 3/4 mile, so I guess I’m a bigger pussy than I thought. View Quote |
