so I wakes up this mornings and looking at my news feed, it knows I like bourbon, it gives me a title I cannot not read; the best value bourbons dollar for dollar as per some unknown bartenders.

I am all about value.

wells, I looks at the writings. no surprises buffalo trace and Elijah Craig Small Batch, Four Roses single barrel are on there.

but it also lists Eagle Rare at a price of $35. Where?!

It lists EH Taylor for $42!!! Where?!

Never even seen either in a store let alone reference to that pricing.

Listed crap like Makers Mark. One I never heard of, Old Grand-dad bonded (?)

Few I had been meaning to try too.

Well, I needed to stop and get my wife some mustard. Store had a couple on the list I had been meaning to try: Wild Turkey 101 and Old Forester. They had Bulleit Rye so I just went for it.

Initial tastes: none of them are overly complex or grab you. All very smooth. All decent for the money, but I would take others similarly priced first I think.

The bulleit was very smooth, not a lot of spice for a rye. Easy drinking.

The Old Forester was frankly a bit of a let down. I wasn't expecting it to be on par with the 1920, but I was expecting something a little "more." Maybe I just need to drink more of that one on its own.

The surprise winner of the three and cheapest at $24, Wild Turkey 101. Very smooth for higher proof, good taste, easy to drink. Still not complex or wow, but for what it is, yeah, that's value.

For just a few bucks more you can have an Esee 6 and you could build a shelter with it.

The Strongarm is a decent looking knife. I've seen pics of some with horrible edge grinds though.

I think the discussion on Spyderco forums is S45VN will do as goot or better than Elmax as it has a lower carbide load but higher percentage of Vanadium and Niobium carbides in place of bigger and softer Chromium carbides but I'll have to double check

There's a bunch of ways to cook these but I placed everything in a cold oven and set the temperature to 450.  When it hits 450, let it cook for 20 minutes then reduce to 325 for 20 per pound.  I let it rest for another 20 minutes.

I thought I took a picture of my A-100 I used as my knife but I don't have one..  I love that knife though.

Just a nickname for a top sirloin roast.  If it's too lean for you, they will add a fat cap to it and string it like mine.

The Eagle Rare used to be available at our places year round for that price give or take up until very recently. They even had specials on it. The Taylor isn't something I've seen here ever, but I did run into it once in TN. I don't think it was $42 but I don't remember clearly as it has been several years. I've had a fair bit of the Old Grand-dad bonded and consider it a go to low end bourbon. Drinkable neat but it is a solid choice for mixed drinks and very affordable. About in line with the Evan Williams BIB in my book.

Well it probably didn't take long to do the search. Student body population of 23, teaching staff of 2, 5 administrators, pretty quick I bet.

Given how small it is, they would probably have a good idea of the one that brought it in.

If it wasn't rural Iowa.
