From AIM's email....looks interesting

At 25 or 30 bucks I'd give it a shot. At that price think I'll just keep an eye out for used D60's
|
|
These should mount to LBE with less bulk than D60s. I’m really curious to see if I’d this represents anything new in terms of quad mag reliability. Sooner or later, someone has to figure it out.

20 Rounders are best AR mags fight me!
I would just get the D60 over that personally. |
|
Can't be any worse than the Surefire (world class customer service) junk I have sitting here.

|
Came here because I also saw the email.
Seems interesting and at a decent price point. |

ATI generally produces garbage.
The 22's they import(ed) blew. The Galil ARM clone they're putting out doesn't work with IMI mags. It won't be hard to convince me to pass on that ugly abortion of a mag. |

Little cheaper. PSA

Made in Germany.

Surefire 60 was fucking garbage and over $100. Why chance a cheaper mag from an unknown company using a quad stack design that no one has ever made work reliably? Even Magpul gave up working on their quad stack design.
D60s can be had for $90 shipped and are dead nuts reliable. Buy some and be done with it. |

Had decent experiences with some of my Surefire 60's. Individual mags were a bit hit or miss unfortunately. Hopefully the four Schmeisser mags will be more reliable. |

The balance and gun center of gravity plus the short hangdown make the D60 much better than you think.

I'm interested in it for a BREN configuration w/ a binary trigger and side mounted red dot.

Quad is definitely better if you want to put one in a pouch. Hanging out of a gun it's a toss up on personal preference. Drum is wider, quad is longer. And yeah, hopefully they are more reliable. But for less than half the price of an unreliable Surefire, I just don't see them having invested the money in the engineering design, manufacturing tooling and manufacturing process to solve the problems with coffin mags that designers have been trying to solve for over a century. Surefire couldn't do it at twice the street price. Magpul gave up completely because it was never going to meet their standards and turn a profit at the price it would require and volumes that kind of price would drive. At $50 will it work? Sure, as a novelty that you're okay with jamming every 1 or 2 or 3 loads. Will it meet the reliability of a D60? Never. |

I tried a couple Surefire 60rd mags which both turned out to be completely unreliable turds. At least trying one of these won't hurt my wallet as much.
But honestly, reliable 30rd mags are so cheap why bother? |

Owning a single D60 in your home defense gun's magwell is worth bothering over a PMAG 30. No one is implying you need to replace all of your AR15 mag capacity of $8 30-rounders with $50-$90 60-rounders. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Just got my first two from AIM. Overall they look good. They are a bit on the long side. Locks in fully loaded with a tap. The transition happens at round 18. You can feel the second spring engage as it's much stronger than the top spring. Being made from polymer, they have molded in guides for the bullets and two followers. I think this design will help prevent problems in the transition. They appear to convert each side to a single column and then merge those two columns. Adds a bit more length, but will hopefully solve transition issues.
Here are the pictures I took. Size comparison. Attached File Disassembled. Attached File Close up of the two followers. Attached File Internal molded guides. Attached File |

Sat in the safe for almost a decade. Sent it back to Surefire 6 months ago. Got a new one 4 months later. Doesn't like my 556 but works fine in my 300blk. Wierd. |

Here are some more comparison pics between the Surefire 60, S60 and Pmag 40.
Surefire 60 laid on top the S60, top of the mag is aligned to show the curve and length differences. Attached File S60 measures .764" longer than the Surefire. Attached File Pmag 40 is very close in length. The constant curve is pretty close as well. Attached File |
