From a site which will not be named, someone proposed you really only need 5 whiskies at any one time. 1. Daily Drinker; your go too whiskey for every day sipping 2. Impress your guests; one you'll bring out for friends that is good but not overly fancy 3. Cheap mixer; one for mixers or giving to folks who won't appreciate the better stuff 4. Your Friday night bottle; that one you look forward to drinking but may be a bit much for daily drinking. Something truly great. 5. Your special occasion bottle. 'Nuff said Here's what I came up with based on my current collection, though, if I had it, Woodford Double Oaked would probably be #2 instead 1. Wild Turkey 101 2. Knob Creek 9 yr Single Barrel Reserve 3. Kirkland Small Batch 4. Stranahan's Single Barrel Cask Strength 5. EH Taylor Single Barrel (my FIL and I put a hurting on it when we found out my wife was pregnant)  Attached FileYou'll notice I'm apparently a bit a proof whore

Your Friday night bottle; that one you look forward to drinking but may be a bit much for daily drinking. Something truly great. Knob Creek 12 year 5. Your special occasion bottle. 'Nuff said Wild Turkey Diamond |

Russell’s Reserve SiB (private barrels) 2. Impress your guests; one you'll bring out for friends that is good but not overly fancy Elijah Craig barrel proof - always impresses, or stagg jr. 3. Cheap mixer; one for mixers or giving to folks who won't appreciate the better stuff Buffalo trace 4. Your Friday night bottle; that one you look forward to drinking but may be a bit much for daily drinking. Something truly great. Older Whistlepig single barrel of the mgp variety. 5. Your special occasion bottle. 'Nuff said Compass Box - The General |

1. Daily Drinker - WhistlePig Piggyback 6yr, it’s delicious, it’s cheap
2. Impress your guests - Blanton’s SFTB, it’s well known brand, good strength and totally affordable 3. Cheap mixer - Old Overholt This was the hardest to pick because I love making cocktails and generally use only high quality components but I actually like this whiskey too so there’s that 4. Your Friday night bottle - Alberta Premium Cask Strength, easily the second best Rye I’ve ever had 5. Your special occasion bottle - WhistlePig Boss Hog VI. Hands down the best Whiskey I’ve ever tasted. I love it but do share it with my guests often and “special occasion” can be something as small as “I got that work project done finally”  Attached File |

These are the current ones out in the bar area. If you want a mixer your getting the Ole Smoky, other than that everything else is fair game for any day of the week or for any guest.

Edit: I think I'm going to delay this week's Bourbon Arena until next week, I picked up a stomach bug from my 6 year old that had it a few days ago and whiskey just isn't looking too tempting right now.
