Input? Looking to do a budget friendly pistol build.  Might put a can on it later, way later.

10.5"-11.5" barrel is what I've seen recommended.

.22LR or .223? Big difference between 5.56/.223 and .22LR. Just wondering.

I think I have more 5.56 ammo vs .22, I need to get my neckbeard on... Whats more useful out of a pistol AR?

Do you have a reliable 5.56 Carbine? If so, and you dont have a suppressed 22 already, then go .22LR

Useful for what? What are you doing with it? A .22LR in an AR pistol will just be a cheap to shoot fun gun. A 5.56/.223 would be good for longer ranges and and sort of HD/SD. Depends on what you want from it. As I said they are two different cartridges. Very different.

You're right, thanks.  Just gotta decide to have a range toy or HD purpose.

Thanks for other comment/input. Get both?  Hmmmm, tempting. Already have a few others in 5.56 that are not budget build.
Im too poor to buy .300 blk. since switching jobs.

Is there some sort of insane restrictions on those?

Do the .22LR conversion thing. It's a hoot.

This is a 5.56 barrel cut-down to 3.5" long, without a functioning buffer tube assembly, that my son threw together one Saturday afternoon.

With the conversion units (at least with most of them), not only do you not need a functioning buffer tube assembly, the barrel doesn't even need a gas port, a gas tube or a gas port housing.

Planning on doing a 9” .22lr build I already have two solid 5.56 rifles and want something I can shoot cheap until 5.56 comes back to sane prices
