Welcome to the new thread all!
2019 was a great year for us that brought new members and new PR's from returning members. The rules are simple: Just pick a mileage goal (1,000 is just 19.23 per week) and post your daily and total mileage. Feel free to ask your running questions here, there's a lot of experience in this group. We also have Garmin Connect & Strava groups you can join to follow along with as well. The idea has been floated to try arranging a race we could try meeting at. Speak up of anyone wants to try fitting this into your schedule so we can try finding a location (or locations) so we don't have to travel all across the country to do it - maybe Cola Warrior-style regionals. Best of luck to us all! |

I am ending an absolutely terrible year for running on a good note. I have 88.8 miles for December (only 390 for the year). I think I can safely sign up for the 1000 miles in 2020.
I am in the Strava group. If anyone is in the vicinity of Sewanee TN and wants to run, let me know. We have a free ParkRun 5k every Saturday at 0900. I am looking forward to a much better year of running. Thanks for the thread, @Commander_Keen |

Quick personal introduction:
I started running about 4.5 years ago after running a 5k with my in-laws and getting hooked on it. I've averaged a couple marathons per year since then. 2019 was a pretty good year for me after spending the first several weeks contacting various illnesses from my daughters (kids are germ magnets!). I planned on setting a new marathon PR at the Dallas Marathon in December, but mid-race a stomach bug struck (my wife and 3 daughters had all had it in the preceding week, I thought I had dodged it for once). This year I want to hit 3,300 miles, and I'm targeting the Cowtown Marathon on March 1 to hit that marathon target. The rest of my running year is unplanned, but I might try out some ultras. |

I hate running. I've certainly gone over a thousand miles per year on my bicycle
|
|
I used to run all the time, started when I was 12 or 13 in middle school. It was nothing to get home from work and then 5-8 miles. Maybe 3-5 during lunch, whatever. Did it until I was 50 or so and my knees went out.
Now at 64 and after two total knee replacements, my running days are over. Walking, however, has taken on a new meaning since now it's virtually pain-free. Just rambling, at least you got a free BTT out of it. |

I'm back this year again. Maybe I can keep my plantar fasciitis at bay and hit my goal this year. I'm starting 2020 off with a bang, with a 50 miler on 1/18. If you start out like that, then the rest of the year can't be all that bad.
|
|
I'm in again this year. Gonna shoot for 1500 miles and two or three marathons.
|
|
I'm game for 2020! I don't know if 2000 is possible with my schedule, but I'll use that as a goal to shoot for. I'll be happy hitting over 1500 again.
I've been running since October 2014. Starting walking in September 2014 to lose weight and walking then turned into running. I ran my first 5k in November of 2014. It was a great accomplishment. :) I'm up for a group race as well. I travel between AZ and MI throughout the year, so anywhere in-between would be fine with me. I also have family in Nashville I can crash at too. |

In! Goal of 1K. 10.68/10.68. Let's go! View Quote I hit 529.97 last year, and there was some that wasn't tracked. Went good for a while and fell off in the summer, but got back into it and accelerated into the fall. Joined F3, made a big difference in the amount I ran, the motivation to run, and people to run with me. Because of that, I have signed up for 2 races, a 5 mile Krispy Kreme Challenge (run 2.5, eat a dozen donuts, run back 2.5 in under an hour) in February, and a half in March. Goal is to hit 1K, and I have a "Maynard Murph" coming up. The "Maynard" is the 10.7 mile run (did it this morning), then from the start point run another .6 to the pull up bars in the park, do the Murph work, than back the .6, and possibly the Maynard again. I do lift weights as well, and goal is to lose weight and to just get better overall shape. |

2019 was a bad year for my running. Not sure if I will hit 1000, but I'm back in this year.
|
|
Last year, I set my goal at 700 and achieved 685.25. I am glad to have been close, but am going to aim for 700 again.

Hey y’all, time to get back at it. Fell off towards the end of last year. I started running in August 2018 where Keen told me a lot of information useful to a beginner runner. Especially keeping heat rate down and going easy to go far.
August 2019 I did my first 50k, brutal high noon start in the Texas heat and finished about 8 hours later. This year I’m not setting a goal per-say. I burned out a bit last year and just want to have fun again. I’d like to do a couple marathons and ultras. Only thing on my schedule is a 55 hour run called the Snowdrop Ultra, this time next year. I was supposed to do it this year but my kids due date is right around the corner so I didn’t want to race with the chance of wife going into labor. With a kid 2 weeks away and getting busier at the job, I’m hoping to get some miles in this year. Btw, got a new Coros Apex and it’s pretty awesome. Let’s stay injury free this year! |

5.14/5.14
Garmin connect had it at 5.14, Strava had it at 5.13. I'll take the extra .01 ;). This is already better than last year. |

Strava will almost always short you .01 compared to your watch if you run outside. It doesn't do that for treadmill runs. Better than the .1 they used to short. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

This is my third year recovering from a 2nd degree torn hamstring. I try to do 20-30 miles a week.
I used to run 40+ before injury. |

11.5 / 22.00
5x 3:30 Intervals at the effort I could hold for maybe 15 minutes, then one more hard effort up a hill (stealing back a Strava segment from a a local HS runner). I hate these kinds of workouts! |

I think the gym is putting up a few teams for a 1 mile marathon relay. Teams of 2 to 5 people. Each person runs a mile, repeat til the team hits 24 miles, then the last man does 2.2 to round off a marathon. There's a group near me that does several off the wall races like this every year. I'm hoping to do this one, as well as their 12hr 5k race where they do a 5k every hour, on the hour, for 12 hours.

4.11/9.25
ETA, wind and rain. I didn't want to go, butbi feel better having done it. I am sure I will need the buffer later in the year. |

IN!
0.0 / 1000.0 so far. I logged 995.15 last year, but it wasn't all running. I would log hikes, long walks with my better half, etc. I know that I missed some miles, so reality was well over 1K for the year. I'm going to minimize logging the "extraneous" miles and use this primarily as a running goal. I am scheduled for the Woodlands Marathon in March. A friend has signed up for the Colorado Springs half in September. I may join him and take my wife on a mini-vacation. Going from running all flatland at near-sea-level to Colorado Springs would be a challenge. Strava -- I was using it until it logged two runs in a row with inaccurate data. Examples include 17.48 miles with a 3:47/mi pace (reality was 8.5 miles). The other was 5.0 miles with 4:17 pace, including one in 43 seconds. The other apps which use the GPS are showing no issues. I've reverted to using MapMyRun. Has anyone else seen similar issues? Know how to fix them? I really would prefer to stay on Strava. I logged some runs in there in Israel and would prefer to stay on one app. |

16.15 / 74.5
16 miles is a lot farther than I remember it being. |
