Meet the 2 newest members of my sled dog team. They will be here in the next couple weeks. Parents are my stud dog Ike and a nice racing dog in New Hampshire.

We have a date. The little guns, Bennelli and Beretta will be arriving home on July 5. Gun fire will be going off a day later than firecrackers.

The shotguns are home. Benelli (male) on the left. Beretta (female) on the right. 3 months old today.

Yesterday's adventures included a trip to Tractor Supply and then playing in the pond. The pond was fun on a 92 degree day.

The shotguns are now 26 and 30 lbs. Doing easy canicross runs in harness. Last Sunday morning it was 52 degrees so we did an easy 3.7 mile jog in the park before church.
The last few days it was hot and humid. \ What do you do on a hot sticky 90 degree day? How do stay cool? Answer: you go swimming with Daddy.  Attached File Attached File Attached FileThey love the water tank on hot days. |

Growing so much and learning fast since the last post. Saturday at 7.5 months old they did their first scooter run at our mushing 101 class we hold for the parks. We have been doing canicross but they really liked it when they found they could run as fast as they wanted and not the speed an old man can run.

Posted this on our mushing club facebook page yesterday.
Happy 9 Month birthday Beretta and Benelli. So far they have run 1 and 2 dog scooter and bike. 1 and 2 dog canicross. 6 dog quad in swing and 2 runs in lead. 9 dog quad in swing with one run in lead. They do good in lead once we get started on the trail but are not good at line out. I know we didn't have enough snow but they got to do their first 2 dog sled run this afternoon. only about 400 yards on the hay field. Since there was no good way to hook down we stayed along the fence so we could tie off if necessary. I was too busy handling them to take pictures while on the sled. They now weigh 44 and 50 lbs. We have had too much warm weather and our behind on our training so we won't be running the Tahquamenon Country Sled Dog Race tomorrow.  Attached File Attached File |
