Trying to keep myself occupied at home and decide to build a couple of 1/35th scale military models. I built a M32B1 Armored Recovery Vehicle and a M728 Combat Engineer Vehicle. There is a world of difference in detail and quality between Italeri models and AFV Club models. AFV is worth the extra cost. I'm just waiting on paint before putting the tracks on each one.

The IVF Club model of the M88 series tank retriever is an astounding kit.

I built it back in the late 90's, and the detail is amazing, right down to the Wilton vise mounded on the deck.
Even in 1/35 scale it's a big model.

I have the same M88 model and yes the details are great. The AFV M728 is real close to quality and details. I have an AFV M1132 Engineer Squad vehicle (Stryker) coming on Tuesday

I finally got the Hilux and people I ordered. Attempting to get back at this after a 20 year hiatus. My goal is to make a scene I went through while in Afghanistan.

So far I’m dirtying you’re the undercarriage of the Hilux Attachment Attached File

I didn't like how the M728 CEV turned out, the green I used was the wrong shade. I ended up painting it desert tan. I still need to finish weathering all of the models I did in the last few months. Along with the M32B1 and M728 CEV, I also did a M1132 Engineer Squad Vehicle. I did not put the mine plow on it, too many extremely small parts for me to put together.

I cracked open my Bronco kit of a Humber Mk. II armored car, since I figured I'd start with a smaller vehicle to jump back into messing with armor.

Yeah, this thing has like 800 parts

Lol...I have a Meng T-55 with full interior that has 1756 parts.

Its still unfinished 3 years later. As far as I got was the lower hull.

The AFV Club models definitely have a lot of detail and small parts. The main reason that I did not finish the mine plow on the M1132 is the small parts that were suppose to be put together and stick be able to articulate up and down. I just don't have the dexterity in my hands for that anymore.

I came to the conclusion that my arthritis has got to the point that I can't build fine detailed models anymore after building the M728 CEV and M1132 Engineer Squad Vehicle. Looking at the N scale train on the shelf below the 1/35 models makes me realize that if I decide to build another train layout, I probably should go with HO or even O scales. It stinks getting young and having arthritis (and fibromyalgia)

Great looking models. I haven't built a model in 35 years. Ordered a bunch of paint and decided to try something challenging. Should be here in a few days (not my pic).

Holy God, that would have a lot of parts.

I’ve been building a Tamiya Sturmtiger with a photo etch upgrade for over a month now, and that seems to long. I can’t imagine building a kit like you posted.

Building is not that fun for me. Painting and especially weathering is what brings me joy.

The kit is really nice, however the majority of the parts are so small that it becomes tedious.
I am not so good at painting with this acrylic paint, it goes on really thick. I am enjoying it though, should be done by spring!

Oh, I'd love to have a cut-a-way model!  I love cut-a-way stuff!

Anyway, I have a Tamiya 1/35 Tiger that I've been sitting on for years.  Was going gangbusters on it till I hit the 'assemble 200 tiny little track bits' stage, and boom, it's been sitting on the bench ever since!  I need to get back to it.  My plan was to get a 1/35 Sherman or maybe a M10 Wolverine TD and some troops and make a diorama out of all of it.

(I am also into warhammer.  Have a bunch of space marines, land raiders, predators, some jets.  Also, fantasy side, Daughters of Khaine and literally buckets of minis and dragons.  Vast majority unpainted, of course.)

I think there’s a king tiger as well

There are also kits with clear hull and turrets, too, so you can see inside.
