Anyone interested in doing this? If I get some interest maybe we can make this "official."

You make the 1,000lb club if the combined total of your one-rep-max squat, bench, and deadlift meet or exceed 1,000lbs. Even if you don't quite make it, you could post up your attempt as a baseline to start with. The only weak man is the one who isn't making himself stronger!

I'm thinking we could check in with the training we are doing to get ready, and then do posts with the video of each lift once we are ready.

I've got three weeks left in the program I'm working on, then I'll take a few days off and then test myself.

Anyone want to take the challenge with me?

ETA 24FEB19:

Here's my submission:
360 Squat:

305 Bench:

435 Deadlift:

Adds up to an 1,100 lb total.

Maybe we can make it a 'gains' challenge instead of '1,000lb'?  I'm a bit over 1,000 now, but I have been terrible about getting to the gym consistently, but I would like to get to 1,300 if possible this year.  That's probably a bit optimistic, but still.

Anyone can do this and whatever total they get is fine. The these things just usually get called "1,000lb club" challenges any time they are held. At least that's what I've seen. Doesn't mean you can't participate if you have a sub-1k total or have to stop at 1k if your total could exceed that.

You should exclude anyone over 1250. Those guys are obvious creatine abusers.

So I literally had an older dude in the locker room tell us we shouldn't use all those supplements (because he saw the BCAA and creatine powder in my buddy's bag). He said his son screwed up his liver using "creatine and too much protein."

I don't bench so I'm out.

I'll come back if I can somehow squat and deadlift 500 at some point though.

I've never worked up a 1rm.

I have a deload week coming in two days, maybe I can do a testing day for Squat, Deadlift and OHP to finish it.

I just did a mock meet in my basement last weekend. 380 squat, 225 bench, and 425 deadlift at 189.6lb BW, so 1030 total, took me about an hour total. I didn't attempt a 3rd DL. I only have the squat on video but I'm on mobile now and need to cut it down.

Im down for documenting gains, and I should hit 1K this year.

Just worked up next cycle, and dead - 285, squat - 245, bench - 195 = 725. I think when I hit 245 squat I could have hit 255 or 265, but didnt rest much (like 30-45 seconds, set 255 on the safeties)

According to the math and accounting for 2 deload cycle, I should be at 1050. This should really line me up to be at 4/3/2/1 as well, OHP is at 105 (really dirty 115, but I didnt count it)

I'm at 940 so far. By the end of this year I'll be there.
Squat: 305
Bench: 230
Deadlift: 405.

These are all tested maxes as of this and last month. I go up 5lb per month on upper body (bench, OHP) and 10lb per month on squat and deadlift per month. I'm getting that 500lb deadlift by the end of December.

I won't be testing 1 RMs until July 4th at the earliest.  My previous best was 1231 a couple of years ago.  Hoping to hit 1300 this year.  If I remember to take videos of rep sets and they breach 1000 before July 4th, I'll post them up.

I started this program with a 335 Squat, 285 Bench, and 420 Deadlift. I used those numbers because I've been able to hit those numbers on different days, but never all on the same day. Program has been running smoothly, so hopefully I'll be able to up everything and get close to 1100 when I'm finished.

Week 8 of 10. Today's lifts:
Squat: 205x5

250x5

5x5@265
Press: 115x5

130x5

145x5

115x5+

Finish up with some pullups, chinups, face pulls and dips

I never think to take vid of my max effort lifts. Maybe after this next cycle.

Last max effort gave me a 445 back squat and a 555 deadlift, so I guess I'm in the club..

I suffer from a poverty bench though. Only got 135lbs

In each hand, cause I do dumbbells...

Currently at 1070# this season.  I had pretty major setback with a wrist injury that sidelined me for nearly the entire month of January or my totals would be a bit higher.

To date:

Bench- 290
Squat- 365
Deadlift- 415 (PR)

Only have 5-6 weeks left before I begin my cut so I probably won't hit my goals this season but I'm shooting for 340# bench, 405# squat, 495# dead, which would put me at 1240.

No idea what it is now, have to get past some health crap to work back up some.

When I was slightly less broken I was at,

Back squat: 500
Deadlift:  465
Bench:  365    (was starting on weightlifting, not really training bench regularly)

Nothing spectacular, but I was still moving up pretty well until my knees decided to quit playing.

Great Job, OP!

My university Gym offers 1000# club and a 1200# club, with a certificate for each and a t-shirt for 1200#. So far there's only 5 names in the 1200# club, one of them mine: https://www.instagram.com/p/Ba68T9nhCIC/

I'd probably be a lot higher if I didn't have such a poverty bench!

I'll play.

Here are my 1 rep maxes reached last year:

Bench: 200 lbs
Deadlift: 365 lbs
Squat: 295 lbs

Total: 860 lbs

I had some injuries at the start of the year and really downloaded.  I hope to make some real gains over the next few months.

My bench and OHP have always been weak.

It's been a long time since I've tested 1RMs, but according to my 5/3/1 app I should be just under 1100# total.

I think I'll finish at least this cycle and then try to record.

LOL, you have me beat me on both counts!
But I'm old and broken.

Guy my son trains with broke 2k at a meet in October.
And still had second highest total!

Son is shooting for 1800 by this fall.
And I'm shooting to be able to get my right arm up over my head to put a T shirt on w/out wincing in pain.

I just got back into lifting after taking a few years off.  When I stopped I was at (1RM):

Squat: 405 (originally had a typo of 495 here)
Bench: 275

Right now I'm at (1RM):

Squat: 315

Deadlift: 275

I lost a a ton on my squat for some reason.  I really start struggling now when I get to 225.
