I came down Wednesday afternoon and came back Thursday after meeting with my insurance adjusters. 92 and miserable inside with all the dehumidifiers running. No fun at all.

Oh,ok.  For some reason I thought this would be a week long trip or longer.  I take it you have property down there?

Luckily we were on the less violent side of the hurricane but still had lots of trees down and a surprising amount of wind driven rain got past the window seals.   HOA had Servpro in there already with fans and dehumidifiers.  It was 92 degrees inside and sounded like we were in an airplane hangar.

I got in on Friday night.  Saw it firsthand yesterday, and these folks were shown no mercy. The damage is total.
The only word that comes close is DEVASTATION. I've got a lot of pictures, but no time to post them.
 Off to tarp some roofs.

Been a bit busy. But the raffle will happen

Folks, I am very humbled.   Miami_JBT told me he was going to do this and for a while was actually in communication with my wife about its progress.  My wife, who knows I spend a lot of free time surfing "that gun site" was taken back by what Miami_JBT was telling her.  How did my wife speak with Miami_JBT? I had used my dad's ATT phone, which still had service right after the impact, to touch base with Miami_JBT and he passed the number along to another member who was bringing me some much appreciated supplies.  I came home from patrol a day or so later and my wife tells me "I have spoke to Lou and I have spoke to Bob, I like them a lot.  Lou said he got a fundraiser approved and Bob is bringing us ....".   I look at my wife and say "How did you speak to Bob, I haven't even gotten to speak to Bob yet?".  She holds up my dad's phone and says "Duh, your dad's phone still has service and Lou called it back.".  My wife rode out the hurricane in our house.  I had kept her from going out in the first week after the storm because there really was no place to go to and conditions were that bad.  I cannot tell you all how much it meant to her to hear that some folks I had met on the internet, from places far and wide, were doing something very gracious for us.  This came to us and more particularly her at a time when she really felt cut off from the outside world.

I haven't posted in this thread that I can recall, honestly there is about a week or more that is kind of a blur to me, but I decided to let the thread run its course for a couple of reasons.  First, I know what the people on this site are capable of, which are acts of compassion and kindness.  Secondly, I didn't want to be do anything that would appear to be influencing what members here wanted to do.  For the older guys here, I didn't want to appear like Jerry Lewis running the telethon, especially the last few hours when his tie was undone and hanging around his shirt collar.

The kindness and consideration shown by the members here will allow me to stress less and help with some expenses that will continue to come in.  I am very grateful for what everyone here has done for my family.  I truly do not have the words.

Glad to hear things are looking up for our FL brethren

Saw @floridacop yesterday during the course of my work. Gave him the info for GoFundMe so he can transfer the funds. The raffle will sti happen.

I'm currently on another eight day rotation of hurricane duty.

Late but in for a bill.  We got help after Katrina over here on the MS Gulf Coast from all over the country.  Giving back a bit.  Good luck to all affected and to all those assisting.

Don't know if raffle is done but if not and I win donate whatever back to be raffled again please.

The raffle has not happened just yet due to a hang up with GoFundMe. Trying to resolve it.

I believe the campaign was closed, from what Miami_JBT had told me a while back.  While the offer of further donations is much appreciated, we are good right now thanks to all the folks who posted here.  I really appreciate everyone's support and gofundme transferred the funds successfully.
