"As an American, I like things that go fast. I like fast cars and I like fast firearms." "Machineguns are just plain fun!" Obviously you have never fired one or you would not ask such a question" |

IME, when you tell them that, most suburbanites will just say, "You're insane." There's no getting through to these people. |

Good point. |

because I've got a closet full of ammo and I need the space?
|
|
"I need a machinegun because it is too much work to put someone in my Oldsmobile, drive it into a lake, wait there to make sure they drown, leave, and then wait until the next day for someone to discover the body. Just shooting them is more efficient."

in SC? |

Mostly, because it is incredibly fun!!
I have never seen anyone walk away from a full-auto mag dump with anything less than a huge grin on their face. Machine guns are not your best choice for killing people - not unless you're in the middle of a large crowd. Your best choice for killing people is well-aimed individual shots. If you are in the middle of a crowd your best choice is a bomb. This is regularly proven by current events. People who think machine guns have no place in society are well indoctrinated. |

sadly, every state has their share of asshats |

(A) probably is the best response to the question. It addresses a weak attempt by some to question the practical use of a machine gun. If one is not a commercial fisherman, for example, then why does one need a boat? Simple. However, I disagree with your closing sentence, that if the person wants to ban swimming pools, essentially ignore them. Actually, such a person, who took an initiating stance against guns should be ENCOURAGED to go off on a campaign to ban swimming pools. Ditto with others, and other items, such as trampolines. |

Tell him it isn't the problem of owning a machine gun or not owning a machine gun,it's the RIGHT to CHOOSE to do so. Why do people have flashy cars that go 200 mph? Why do people climb mountians? Why do people go on vacation? Because to those people that is part of living and it's something they enjoy doing. The same can be said for owning a machine gun,a bass boat or a remote control airplane.

\ That's true. My answer is, "yes, when it becomes necessary." ANd, as you said, they will be sure I'm insane. Fine, when they are attacked, I can be helpless, too, and will be. Another good answer, though it is in a gray area, is, that I don't harm animals. This is for those who think hunting guns are OK, just not self-defense. I waited like a spider for antis who supported Kerry: I said I would have voted for him, but when he put on a big show of dragging those geese he had just killed, by the neck, to show what a great man he was, my stomach turned and I was disgusted. He did all that, of course, to show he was harmless to gun owners, so I hoped it got back to the campaign and they would stop that. Nothing like putting them between a rock and a hard place. |

Because they founding father WANTED the PEOPLE to be armed to check the government from becoming too powerful... the simple reason is because the constitution ALLOWS us to... but modern courts and judges have re-written or legislated laws against it....
The people MUST always be allowed to posses weapons that can put down an over zealost governing body if needed... |
|
What is this Class III weapon you are refering to? I thought Class III was a dealer not a weapon. I also thought that Machine Guns were NFA weapons. |

|
If someone asked me why would someone want/need a machine gun. I would ask him, Why do black people want/need to vote? I mean really, its their right, why wouldn't they want to?
Poll taxes = Tax stamps Of course I work third shift and haven't gone to sleep yet. Maybe I'm just saying crazy things! Smalls |
|
Finally!! The Constitution was written to provide for the security of individual rights. Our founding fathers knew the dangers of a government that was far better armed than its citizens. Sure shooting automatic weapons is fun. But I don't have any weapon just because it is fun. They are tools which should be used to protect and preserve your freedom. I still say we do ourselves a disservice by taking the "sporting" route defense. We should take the "Nation of Rifleman" approach. It is our duty as citizens of these great United States to be as prepared for its defense as our Forefathers were. |

why would any American want a machine gun
Your response to this person? "Because they want one like you want a hard one up the ass." |
|
Because I am an American Man....not a sissy girl who is afraid of everything!

Now that we all know what occupies your thoughts, I fixed it for you by removing the unnecessary gayness. |

Well, I figured the guy asking the question was proabaly Gay so I was hoping it might hit closer to home for him.

God I love this answer....... Later, Badredfish |

My response to someone who said that would be, "Why WOULDN'T you want something as cool as that? Your brain's fun center would have to be broken not to want one! "

|
I would have asked why we needed to ban/regulate the shit out of machine guns, silencers etc. Public safety? Once he opens that door let him have it. He will either be calling for a ban on cars, stairs and kitchen knives by the end of the day or come to his senses.
|
|
Exactly; need doesn't create a rigth to anything, nor does lack of need eliminate rights. |
|
|
Have you ever gone to the county fair and tried to shoot out the star with the BB machine gun?
If you have, try adding loud noises and the smell of gunpowder... Now you've got something. Seriously though, I want the same weapons that could be used against me. I know, I know, frightening. GM |
|
Tis true, fellow ARFCOMmers. I work with Marc1979 and was privy to the same email exchange. The "man" in question has been to the range. Not sure if Marcus wants to elaborate on that fun story This guy is all about practical. He used to lecture me that because I was a divorced, single mom I didn't need a Bronco. How very impractical of me to get such a vehicle! My response was, "Its what I want, I can get it, its mine." I feel the same about machine guns. If I want it, and I can afford it...then its mine. Trust me guys, and fellow women, the person who said this is the definition of a$$hat. |

So we can have a full on War-gasm..... Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrapppppp!!! Oh god, YESSSSSSS!!!!!!! |

Libtard/commie/hippie/socialist: "Why would you want to own a machine gun?"
Gusafterhearingthisonetoomanytimes: "Because Fuck You, that's why." |

There is no practical use for a Ferrari either. Why would anyone want one? |
||
|
So I can kill every muthafucker in the room. |

|
Why would anyone want a free press, to petition their gov't for a redress of grievances, to write a play with "deviant" and "subversive" gay themes.......... etc, etc, etc. |

If people can own machine guns in 3rd world countries by golly I should have one too.

Liberals are, at best, short-sighted. And <mr_garrison>"EVIL, evil right down to their cold black hearts which pump not blood like yours or mine, but rather a thick, vomitous oil that oozes through their rotten veins and clots in their pea-sized brains."</mr_garrison> They don't trust the government and/or military (especially not under GWB), yet they want to give them a monopoly on the use of force in this country. For people who whine on and on about "sustainability," this model is not sustainable in the least. <mr_garrison>"Do you understand?"</mr_garrison> |
