Thugs in a Nissan explains it all right there.... Nissan drives are like the new BMW drivers.

He "didn't want to die for lack of shootin' back". I loved that quotation.

That's standard liberal snarkiness. If you don't mock the gunowner with cartoonish cliches like "packing heat", "slinging lead" or "got the drop on them", your readers might get the mistaken inpression that you approve of his/her actions. Civillian gun ownership and use must always be portrayed as being eccentric, illicit, slightly sinister - or just plain wacky. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I'm all for happy endings and all, but, the writer of that story "Rafael" is a real dumbass. Instead of starting off with some background information like who, what, when , and where like most news reports, this goof ball starts making stupid editorial comments like "In a Wild-West inspired gun duel...." So, this wasn't a drive-by shooting, it was a "Wild West gun duel?" And then goes on with "...the homeowner was able to successfully defend himself using his trusty AR-15...." Really? What a stupid and irrelevant remark for a journalist to make. If you don't mock the gunowner with cartoonish cliches like "packing heat", "slinging lead" or "got the drop on them", your readers might get the mistaken inpression that you approve of his/her actions. The home was in a suburban neighborhood, not a rural area, so to have a rifle ready and be able to know that one Nissan Altima, among whatever number of vehicles driving on that neighborhood road, was going to have guys with guns shooting at the homeowner tells me the homeowner was expecting them, knew what they were driving, and knew they were going to be armed.
Sounds like they had some kind of prior confrontation and that conversation possibly ended with, "We are going to drive by your house and shoot you." and "Go ahead, I'll be waiting for you." |

If I lived in that neighborhood, I would have one handy 24/7. They don't call it "Gunpoint Mall" instead of Greenspoint Mall for nothing!

That was my first thought when I read the thread title.

Exactly what I was thinking!

Houston Drive-by |

Moral of the story, bring a rifle you know how to use to a gunfight.

First thing I thought of. Hunting over bait this time?

That is not the OP. The house in the latest shooting is in between houses on the left and right. OPs house is in the corner of the street.

I remember when people said that the OC Texas types who carried rifles were stupid....
