type of ammo? Speer large primer .45 case. CCI large pistol primer 230GR LRN bullet loaded to 1.250 oal 23 grains bullseye. I don't see the problem? That would be a compressed load. Normally, one does not compress Bullseye. I think that may be the origin of the problem. |

My load with bullseye was 4.7 grains, but I haven't reloaded in a long time, 23 sounds about right for a modern handgun My normal load is 4.6 grains. |

I can't put my finger on it, but something is fishy about this thread.

So 23 grains is the breaking point? What was the most it took before that load? Impressive that you actually got 23 to fit in the case though. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile 12 grains didnt do anything but stick the case and pierce the primer, then i said fuck it and went for broke. Wow. That's pretty impressive that it held up to that. What's that around 130% more than it should be? Noob at reloading here. I'm thinking 4.5-5 grains is the norm for 45acp. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

About damn time I'm right about something. Now ya need a glock and a 1911 for the ultimate test. And no I will not donate a gun for the test. Still impressive it held up at 12 grains. (or watch it and make fun of the way you talk) Or you can use this. I haven't used the newer versions, but the older versions were easy like using a pair of scissors. |

you might be a redneck if you blow up hi points in your basement

You didn't crimp it enough. Next time make sure to roll crimp enough that the case mouth is visibly biting into the bullet. You'd also want to use a magnum primer to ensure the full 23gr charge is burned off before the bullet is out of the bbl.

23 grains of Bullseye? Sould have been less than 10. Check your data again. Are you sure it's for 45 acp? By the way if you tell hipoint you were shooting handloads they'll refuse to honor the warranty. You fucked up. This. |
